Step into Lillooet’s past. 🏺⛏️

Housed in the former St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, the Lillooet Museum is filled with stories from the region—from Gold Rush relics and pioneer-era objects to St’át’imc artifacts and the tools of legendary local newspaper editor Ma Murray.

And since it’s also the Lillooet Visitor Centre, it’s a great place to pick up local maps, travel information and tips before exploring the area.

The Gold Rush Trail hits differently on two wheels. And you can ride it your own way. 🚴‍♀️⛰️

Gravel riding takes you onto gravel and Forest Service Roads, perfect for exploring farther and getting off the beaten path.

E-biking gives you a little extra power, making hills and longer distances more manageable while still letting you experience the landscape at your own pace.

Mountain biking is all about trails, singletrack and bigger terrain, from cross-country routes to more technical rides.

Thirty kilometres. One historic route. And a trail that takes you deep into Gold Rush country.

The Grouse Creek Trail follows the original route miners used to reach their claims more than 160 years ago. The full trail from Barkerville to Racetrack Flats is 15 km one way, but you can explore a shorter section and still walk in the footsteps of the Gold Rush.

Finding the trailhead: without entering Barkerville, head left/east and cross the bridge over Williams Creek. Follow the road for about 5.5 km, then look for the signed turn toward Grouse Creek. The road eventually gives way to trail.

Take the road less travelled to Likely. 🌲

Tucked at the western end of Quesnel Lake, Likely is where Gold Rush history meets big wilderness, mountain views and endless ways to explore the outdoors.

About 85 km northeast of 150 Mile House, getting there is part of the adventure. Add it to your next Cariboo road trip.

Must-do in Quesnel: See the Hoodoos at Pinnacles Provincial Park! ⛰️

Just 8 km from downtown Quesnel, Pinnacles Provincial Park is home to fascinating rock formations known as Hoodoos. The park spans approximately 124 hectares of pine forest, with beautiful views of Baker Creek and the city of Quesnel.

Take the 1 km trail to the viewpoint and see these unique formations up close. The park is open year-round for day-use and sightseeing.

In 1863, Billy Barker made a decision that changed the course of British Columbia's history. After years of searching with little success, he took a chance on the lower section of Williams Creek. Just hours later, his mining company uncovered 124 ounces of gold—one of the most significant discoveries of the Cariboo Gold Rush and the event that led to the creation of Barkerville.

Today, you can step into that story at Barkerville Historic Town & Park, where history isn't just preserved, it's brought to life.
