The Birthplace of Hockey Museum Celebrating the Birthplace of Hockey in Windsor, Nova Scotia

Closed for the season. See you in 2027!

Vision: Windsor, Nova Scotia will be recognized and celebrated as the birthplace of ice hockey and for its contributions to the evolution and growth of the game from Long Pond to the world.

-

Windsor, Nova Scotia is widely known as the birthplace of hockey. There is near-irrefutable evidence that it was in Windsor that the game the world knows as ice hockey had its humble origins as early as the year 1800, on Long Pond. It is in the writings of Thomas Chandler Haliburton that the first known reference to a form of ice hockey can be found: the boys of Windsor's King's College School adapted the Irish field game of hurling to the ice. And hurley-on-ice developed over time into the internationally popular game of ice hockey, considered by most Canadians as our national sport.

Windsor Hockey Heritage Trivia Night was a blast at the Spitfire Arms Alehouse last night!

The event had a great turnout with a full house of teams using their knowledge of hockey and more to compete for the first place spot.

Team Foam and Coating Pros came out on top, dethroning long time reigning champs team Jeff Burgess. The winners trophy was personally presented to team Foam and Coating Pros by former winning team captain Jeff Burgess himself.

Funds raised in this event go directly towards supporting our scholarship fund for AVHS graduating students. We are able to provide scholarships to four graduating students, increased from two in previous years. These scholarships are made possible by your continued support at events like this.

Thank you to all who attended and supported this great event!
