This beautiful monarch was spotted enjoying the milkweed in our butterfly garden!

Every year, monarchs make an incredible journey south for the winter, travelling thousands of kilometres to reach Mexico. We’re happy to provide a little place for them to stop, feed, and rest along the way before continuing their journey.

It’s always so special to see these beautiful butterflies in our garden!

Our 2026–27 Home Routes Concert Series is here!

We have six performances coming to Winkler Arts + Culture this season, with musicians from across Canada and beyond joining us in the gallery.

This year’s lineup includes:

Sept. 19 | When We Became Folk Fest
Film screening and conversation with filmmaker Kevin Nikkel, plus live music from Debra Lyn Neufeld

Oct. 18 | Dan McKinnon
Atlantic Canadian songs and stories

Nov. 24 | Melissa Chilinski
Banjo, fiddle, blues and beyond

Feb. 5 | Nicolas Pellerin
Québécois traditional music with a modern edge

Mar. 10 | Ryan Young
Award-winning Scottish fiddler

Apr. 15 | Tragedy Ann
Harmony-rich folk from Guelph, Ontario

Tickets are $25 per person for each show. Doors open at 6:30pm with performances starting at 7pm.

Two new exhibitions open TODAY! 🎨

Our galleries have a whole new look! Stop by and check out Edna Nabess & Friends in our Main Gallery, along with the 2026 Peer to Peer Touring Exhibition in our Upper Gallery.

There’s lots of new work to explore, so come by, take your time, and see what’s new!

We’ll also be hosting a Closing Reception for Edna Nabess & Friends on October 1 at 6:30pm. Everyone is welcome!

School starts next week!

As you’re getting those school calendars organized, don’t forget about PD Days!

Our PD Day Art Camps are back for the 2026/27 school year, giving kids ages 5–12 a fun, creative way to spend their day off school. Our first camp is October 9, with six dates planned throughout the school year!

Each camp is registered for separately, so you can choose whichever dates work for your family.

Claude Monet’s Impression, Sunrise captures the early morning light over the harbor of Le Havre, France. The loose brushstrokes and glowing sun create a feeling of movement and atmosphere rather than focusing on precise details. This painting became especially important because its title helped give the Impressionist movement its name.

Did you know that making art can actually be good for your brain?
The National Institute on Aging says that taking part in creative activities can help support memory, boost your mood, and keep your mind active as you age. It also gives you a chance to slow down, connect with others, and simply enjoy creating.
As Pablo Picasso said, "The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls."

It’s the final week of Art From the Attic!

Here are two more pieces from the exhibit: Just Be (Triptych) by Cyndie Sutherland and Parrot Talk by Olga Krahn.

We’ve really enjoyed bringing together this mix of artwork and giving pieces that haven’t been seen in a while another chance to be on display. A number of pieces are also for sale!

If you haven’t made it in yet, this is your last chance! The exhibit wraps up this Saturday!

Registration is now open for our new After School Art Club!

This fall we're trying something a little different with our program for ages 5–8. Instead of focusing on one type of art, the Art Club will introduce kids to the fundamentals while giving them a chance to work with different materials and try different projects each week.

There are two 6-week sessions to choose from this Fall, or kids can join us for all 12 weeks at a discounted rate!

Tuesdays from 4–5:30pm, starting September 15.

All supplies are included and space is limited to 10 kids per session.
