We found this quote of Metis experiences of displacement here in Winnipeg & surrounding areas at the human rights museum yesterday. It is an important moment in our history that everyone should know about. It reflected what many of us are feeling and experiencing as we face so many fires in our neighbourhood.

"You know, we get kicked out of one place we pack up and move, they burn our houses down and we go someplace else. And it's really hard to preserve a place when you're constantly losing things to fire."

We hope this summer to work with all interested parties on our fire safety plan, please reach out if you would like to get involved!
