The Costume Museum of Canada offers programs available to the public and displays its collection thr In 2007 the museum was relocated to Winnipeg.

The Costume Museum of Canada is Canada's first museum dedicated to the collection, preservation and presentation of clothing and textiles. The collection reflects the identity and social history of Canadians urban and rural, public and private. The collection of 35,000 artifacts is stored in Winnipeg and includes men's women's and children's clothing, accessories and miscellaneous accoutrements. One of the earliest artifacts is a blue and white silk taffeta dress with matching shoes circa 1765. The museum has its roots in Dugald Manitoba with the work of the Women's Institute who began with fashion shows in 1953 and then opened a museum in 1983. The Museum gallery was closed to the public in 2010 but we continue to offer programs which make the collection available to the public. The programs include pop-up exhibits, heritage fashion revues, hat shows and educational programs.

We’d like to thank everyone for making our recent fabric and yarn sale a resounding success! We still have an abundance of gorgeous yarns- hand-dyed sock skeins and cakes, fine wools, cashmeres, and even some beautiful alpaca; quality knitting kits and more. Or if sewing patterns are your thing, we have those and quilting books available as well! Our open hours are 12:30-2:30 Thursdays and 1-3 on Saturdays. Call 204-989-0072 for more info.

We’ll have our usual fabulous selection of fabrics, sewing patterns, notions, and this year: a very special selection of quality wool yarns, part of the estate generously left to us by knitter and needleworker extraordinaire Rosalie Tennison.
