It's been a few hot days in Winnipeg! ☀️

If you're looking for a place to slow down and spend some time with art, visit THREE by Tammy Hendrickx in the Community Gallery.

This exhibition reflects on creativity, personal experience, and the women who helped shape Tammy's artistic journey, including her mother and grandmother. Through painting, drawing, and collage, THREE explores memory, connection, and the people who leave a lasting mark on our lives.

On view now through July 4.

This week, we said goodbye to our Gallery Director, Sarah Hodges-Kolisnyk 📷

Sarah approached the Gallery with curiosity, care, and a deep belief in the power of art to build connection and dialogue. Through many exhibitions and events she helped create meaningful spaces for artists and community to come together.

We are deeply grateful for everything Sarah brought to MHC Gallery, and for the energy, creativity, and thoughtfulness she shared with this space over the years.

We wish her all the very best in this next chapter.

Thank you, Sarah!

Looking for a quiet moment? 🪑

The Connection Desk, by Gillian Crawford is a small participatory installation exploring grief, remembrance, and connection.

Inspired by the artist’s late father and the idea of speaking to those we’ve lost, visitors are invited to sit at the desk, lift the receiver of a disconnected rotary phone, and leave behind a thought, memory, or moment of reflection.

You can currently find The Connection Desk tucked inside the Main Gallery at MHC Gallery.

Thanks to all of you: the artists, attendees, bidders, donors, volunteers, and supporters who made the evening possible, thanks to you we surpassed our fundraising goal.

We’re deeply grateful to the artists who donated work, the MHC Gallery Advisory Committee, Rachel Colman with guest Nick Kolisnyk for the music, Susan Baird and IG Wealth Management for sponsoring the food, CMU Food Services, and The Winnipeg Foundation for supporting our 2026 season.

Here are a few moments from the evening 💛

Now open in the Community Gallery 📷🖌️✍️

Three, by Tammy Hendrickx is a mixed-media exhibition exploring creativity, memory, movement, and personal experience through painting, collage, and drawing.

Centered around expressive figures of women, the work reflects on artistic rediscovery and the people who shape and support creative journeys across generations. Influenced by dance, mentorship, and lived experience, Hendrickx’s work moves between realism and abstraction in deeply personal ways.

Now on view until July 4 at MHC Gallery.

Here’s a few moments from our last Opening Event 📸

Lois Klassen’s Lamentation and Celebration brings together powerful quilt-based works that explore memory, grief, and beauty through layered textile compositions.

Kae Sasaki’s Second Nature offers a thoughtful exploration of reclaimed Japanese vintage beads, transforming them through repetition, care, and material history.

We’re now in the second week of these exhibitions, and we’d love to welcome you in! On view until June 20.

Thank you to everyone who joined us.
