Transformation as renewal.

“El cuerpo de la hembra se abre y opera en lo invisible.”
~ The female body opens itself and operates within the invisible.” — Susana Guerrero

Still pulsing with life, Saint Catherine’s heart unfurls into dense braids of hair, vein, and ritual fiber — a living anatomy where myth dissolves into matter, and devotion becomes corporeal form.

“Ostentatio Mammarum. The breast displayed as an emblem of generative power and divine authority.” — Susana Guerrero

In 𝘌𝘭 𝘤𝘶𝘦𝘳𝘱𝘰 𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘦 𝘭𝘢 𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘢 / 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘦’𝘴 𝘖𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺, this glazed ceramic form with gold luster, rooted in raw earth, channels a maternal alchemy. The cut. The crack. The spill. Pain distilled into fertile authority. Severed yet sovereign. Wounded yet generative.⁣

A powerful sculptural gesture at the heart of Guerrero’s Basel chapter, in dialogue with Medusa, Santa Catalina, and the monumental fiber works.⁣

Following her landmark solo exhibitions in Chelsea, Guerrero now presents her first major exhibition in Basel at 532 Gallery Thomas Jaeckel. On view through June 27. Collector previews and private visits are always welcome — DM or email [email protected].⁣

Braids that bind and sever. Wounds that distill essence. In 𝘌𝘭 𝘤𝘶𝘦𝘳𝘱𝘰 𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘦 𝘭𝘢 𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘢 / 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘦’𝘴 𝘖𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺, Guerrero transforms severed figures — Santa Catalina, Medusa, mythic mothers — into alchemical vessels. The cut becomes a site of concentration; the body awakens and circulates with renewed force. Monumental fiber ropes pulse like arteries. Red mesh spills like purified blood, while gold and black accents crown the ritual.⁣

The serpent completes its circuit.⁣

From raw material to living presence, watch 𝘖𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘰𝘴 awaken within the space — a ritual of transformation unfolding in motion. In its mirrored skin, beginnings and endings dissolve; creation becomes recurrence, gesture becomes echo.⁣

Saint Catherine lost her head for refusing to kneel.
Here, Guerrero reclaims her as both relic and rupture—where sacred violence meets industrial materiality. Bound in electric cable and suspended between martyrdom and resistance, the figure speaks through absence: a body silenced, yet unextinguished.

Doesn’t whisper — it unfurls.⁣

Braided fiber and ritual force converge in this monumental installation at 𝟓𝟑𝟐 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐲, 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐥. Severed saints awaken, Medusa coils into Ouroboros, and the female body becomes its own alchemical vessel — distilling pain into power, wound into wisdom.⁣

From her landmark Chelsea solos to this first major Basel chapter, transformation is not metaphor — it is materially present, suspended in the room.⁣

Enter the suspension. Let the body articulate its own rupture.⁣

532 Gallery Thomas Jaeckel is pleased to share that 𝘚𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦: 𝘜𝘳𝘣𝘢𝘯 𝘔𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘴 is on view in Basel.
Bringing together five distinct artistic positions, the exhibition explores the instability of perception across image, memory, and constructed environment. Gestural botanical forms dissolve into painterly atmospheres, reflective surfaces fragment natural space, and carefully staged interiors evoke a sense of temporal dislocation. Across the exhibition, familiar motifs — landscape, figure, ornament, and pattern — appear subtly altered, as though filtered through interruption or translation.

Rather than presenting fixed narratives, the works operate as shifting visual propositions in which clarity and ambiguity coexist. Each image oscillates between presence and mediation, inviting the viewer to consider how perception is shaped through layers of reference, distortion, and reconstruction.

We warmly invite you to visit the gallery in Basel or reach out to arrange a private viewing.
