In the second room of Pietro Consagra. Colloquio Diabolico, visitors encounter a rare and iconic display: Racconti del Demonio, a series of five sculptures originally shown in 1962 during Sculture nella città in Spoleto—one of the most important exhibitions ever realized in Italy dedicated to sculpture in public space.

After decades, the Racconti del Demonio are now reunited and presented together, creating a unique opportunity that should not be missed. Accompanying the works are one of Consagra’s Bitumi and a historic photograph by Ugo Mulas, which captures their original display of the five sculptures.

Walter Leblanc
Twisted Strings 130C X 450, 1976/77
Cotton strings and white latex on cotton canvas, rounded corners
130 x 390 cm (130 x 130 cm each panel)

Particularly fascinated by how light ripples across the surface of these works, creating dynamic effects, Leblanc employs the technique of twisting in his creations. In this way, the high-luminosity white can conceal all the colors of the electromagnetic spectrum, becoming pure light and transforming into colors and shadows.

Lucio Fontana
Concetto spaziale, Attese, 1959
Waterpaint on canvas
81 x 99 cm

This uniquely shaped work could be seen as a precursor to the series known as Quanta, a group of works that Fontana created between 1959 and 1960. Each example from this cycle consists of a different number of elements, arranged in constellations with varying geometric profiles and freely distributed in space.
