Both artists divert language from its function, allowing it to exist elsewhere; in lines, in volumes, in contemplative silence.

And when the sun inscribes shadows on the wall, it feels less like coincidence than a quiet alignment of form and meaning.

Thank you to everyone who has visited our duo exhibition at Swiss Dojo during the Nuit des Musees Valais, featuring Shinya Tanoue and Shin Masaharu.

Shin Masaharu is part of the young contemporary Japanese art scene and but shares subject matters and contexts with artists from other countries and cultural backgrounds. He avoids being prisoner of the legacy or the cultural identity framework. Shin Masaharu’s approach to art questions the significance of art in society and how it has evolved over time. He eventually manages to confound our expectations of Japanese contemporary art adding further dimensions to his artistic creation.

Thank you to everyone who has visited our duo exhibition at Swiss Dojo during the Nuit des Musees Valais, featuring Shinya Tanoue and Shin Masaharu.

As an artist willing to deeply explore his medium and how it can best express emotions, Shinya Tanoue uses coil technique to shape the work and scarves its surface for giving relief to his creations.
Shinya associates his works with Shells; a protective cocoon that preserves life. The symbolic meaning of Nature is also represented by the incorporating cobalt blue, a reflection of the ocean, source of life.
