AYE Gallery is pleased to present Seeing Mountains As Mountains Again, a new solo exhibition by .

Borrowing from the well-known Zen adage—Seeing mountains as mountains, seeing mountains as not mountains, seeing mountains as mountains again—the exhibition traces a return transformed through doubt, distance, and perception.

Across new paintings and drawings, Luo continues her quiet exploration of memory, presence, and disappearance. Paths at dusk, drifting light, familiar objects, clouds, and fleeting landscapes emerge and recede in works marked by subtle erasure, suspension, and restraint. Through repeated acts of depiction, veiling, and return, image becomes less representation than a site of contemplation.

Rooted in lived experience yet untethered from fixed narrative, these works inhabit a space between recognition and uncertainty, intimacy and distance. In Luo’s hands, losing oneself along familiar paths becomes a form of freedom—one through which new ways of seeing may begin.

A passage into the unseen.

The Art of Withdrawal

What does it mean to step back—deliberately, decisively—from a world that demands constant presence? AYE Gallery is proud to announce an all-female artists group exhibition, The Art of Withdrawal as part of our annual collab.

The Art of Withdrawal explores how a group of women artists—Miriam Cahn, Cai Jin, Chi Qun, Ann Craven, Han Qingzhen, Mona Hatoum, Hoo Mojong, Kathleen Jacobs, Luo Min, Luo Mingjun, Maja Ruznic, and Rachel Zhang—transform retreat into a radical aesthetic position.

In contrast to the historical imperative for women to “speak,” “appear,” or “represent,” these artists enact withdrawal not as erasure but as a conscious reorientation of artistic agency. Their practices resist the economies of attention and exposure that govern both the art world and social life, affirming the right to opacity, slowness, and non-performance.

This group exhibition is made possible with the generous support of Karma@karmainternational, Fergus McCaffrey Gallery@fergusmccaffrey, Galerie Jocelyn Wolff@galeriejocelynwolff, Saatchi Yates, London@saatchiyates, and Galerie Chantal Crousel, Paris@galeriechantalcrousel.

* The exhibition will be on view from March 23 to March 28, 2026, at AYE Project Space (Room 204, Block 1, Chai Wan Industrial City, 60 Wing Tai Road, Chai Wan, Hong Kong).

More details to follow.
Stay tuned.

Digging through 20 years of photo archives, we realized AYE Gallery was already showing at Art Hong Kong before it became Art Basel Hong Kong. And it’s been 15 years since our first Hong Kong edition in 2010—a major throwback moment.
