Codes of Tides, presented at MoCA Pavilion, brought together recent works by , tracing the evolution of his signature “digital shanshui” within the contemporary urban condition. Through series such as Parallel Metropolis, cityscapes from Shanghai and New York are reconfigured into landscape-like image structures, reshaping perceptions of space and nature. Across this cross-cultural visual experiment, the city shifts from backdrop to subject, reimagined as a contemporary landscape. From afar, the works echo the depth and atmosphere of classical shanshui; up close, they reveal the density and tension of urban life.

From Abandoned, initiated eleven years ago, to the ongoing Mr. Plant series, Guo Guozhu’s practice has shifted—from a restrained gaze on wilderness and villages to a more intimate attention to life itself: plant textures, root systems, and near-silent growth.

During his residency at KCCA, he stepped back from the position of observer, allowing nature to become both origin and structure. This shift continues in his presentation at E.SCAPE Art Space—a reflection on belonging, and on the evolving, unnamed bond between humans and their environment.

This video is excerpted from KCCA’s interview with the artist, where he returns to a simple idea: a work should belong to those who encounter it.

Matthew Liu Fine Arts is pleased to present Feng Lianghong — Emptiness is Transformation. The exhibition focuses on the artist’s evolving chromatic structures and the concept of “kong” (emptiness), tracing a practice rooted in Eastern thought and developed through abstraction. Rather than positioning himself between Eastern and Western traditions, Feng allows form, perception, and mind to permeate one another, sustaining a tension between restraint and emergence. In recent works, color becomes a conduit to the spiritual, while “emptiness” shifts from absence to a generative openness. Through pouring, dripping, and scraping, images emerge between control and release, with negative space serving as a field for the circulation of qi.
