iMiTeLex is the art avatar of the artist Michail Fotopoulos. When i was a kid my dad told me that i was not drawing good. After many years i realised that he was right. But i discover in my paintings something that triggered me a lot.I have no words to tell what is triggering me to continue this process . imitelex is Art.During the lockdown I realised that I cannot live without Art and all my life is

based on Art.Every time I couldn’t communicate with the people always I turned my soul and my body into Art.sometimes I gained to receive answers or questions through a therapeutic way.A mirrorless conversation with myself. An urgent way to communicate my feelings and and my view of this world with you.

Various collages · Mixed media

I kept thinking about all the leftovers from my paintings—paper roll scraps, dried paint, pieces usually treated as waste. I didn’t want to throw them away.

So I began creating new collages from them, small and large. A sustainable process, but also a practical one. I can’t always afford new canvases, and this pushed me to work differently.

Nothing wasted. Everything transformed.

Echoes Below. no.2 Mixed media on Canvas.80x120cm. This painting began as something else,, but as I painted, I found myself affected by the tragedy in Gaza. The first version became too direct. I believe it’s unethical to use art merely to depict suffering while it’s still happening. We have to speak out. But I wanted to go deeper. So I covered the painting and begin again. I started scratching into the background, allowing fragments of the original piece to resurface. Traces of the original emerged - for me, they are echoes, scars, martyrs. These scars became the foundation of the new painting. The new surface became a metaphor for the silence of the world: of governments, of the media, of those who try to obscure the truth. Using my usual techniques :scratching, layering gesso, building and obscuring create a textured field where presence and absence coexist. Acrylic and soft pastel were added to areas the gesso left uncovered, to allowing the painting to evolve through tension: between what is hidden and what insists on being seen
