The graphic design studio cyan was founded in (East) Berlin in the early 1990s by Daniela Haufe and Detlef Fiedler. With a wide range of corporate identity designs, posters, books, magazines, and websites for cultural institutions, the studio quickly developed a unique design language, attracting the attention and praise of many international graphic design experts. Over the past 35 years, they have won numerous international and national graphic design awards, and their work has been promoted and published worldwide.

The exhibition, “cyan. work 1990—2025,” is the most comprehensive presentation of their work since the studio was founded.

A 784-page monograph on cyan, designed by cyan and published by hesign, will be presented for the first time at the opening ceremony.

——————

“The rise of cyan—founded by Daniela Haufe and Detlef Fiedler—happens to lead a new wave in the evolution of the visual revolution.” — Jianping He

“Daniela Haufe and Detlef Fiedler are not service providers or contractors in the conventional sense, but in addition to their role as exceptionally talented graphic designers, they are artistic and intellectual partners who familiarise themselves extensively with the subject and discuss their designs intensively with the clients.” — Eugen Blume

“Their typographical work, often approaching the limits of legibility, is orientated not to the word, but rather to the text as graphic material.” — Prof. Günter Karl Bose

Experimental book. A complete collection of the works of all the designers of AGI France.

In addition to the ‘super mini size’, the red, blue and white colourful paper strip package is like unwrapping a surprise package of French impressions, and after flipping the paper strip again, it’s like strolling through a small design exhibition. As book publisher + designer Jumping He puts it:

„At its essence, graphic design is not about technology, but about human creativity. France’s greatest contribution to global graphic design lies in its approach to nurturing creative ideas through the lens of art. Art, by its nature, is diverse and enriched by generations, embodying a freedom that even the most powerful political forces cannot contain.“
