Nadezhda Petkova (b. 2002, Plovdiv, Bulgaria) is a contemporary artist exploring space in relation to time, absence, and the notion of the interjected self. Her multidisciplinary approach includes ink and pen, painting, photography, ceramics, and poetry, with each medium chosen to serve as a narrator for the context of the work. Recurring elements in her practice include emotionally charged landscapes, the presence of a protagonist, and a sense of childlike wonder and naïvism. Drawing on interests in comics, garments, magazines, children’s media, and video, Petkova constructs works that range from observational fragments to immersive installations. Her ongoing project Collection of Unusual Feelings reflects her interest in the gaps between perception and presence, inviting viewers to inhabit a unique space where self-awareness and spatial awareness overlap.
SOFIA SIX is a group exhibition featuring six young artists under the age of 24, each presenting two works that reflect their emerging practices and perspectives. Selected through an open call, the exhibition highlights a new generation of voices. With this initiative, we aim to support young artists and offer a platform for showing their work.
