The Lichtenberg Museum presents artistic perspectives on q***r life in Lichtenberg. The exhibition „Andreas F*x & Jürgen Wittdorf“ is curated by Stephan Koal, director of the Kunstverein Ost – KVOST. It brings together works by two artists with links to Lichtenberg. Jürgen Wittdorf (1932–2018) reached a wide audience early on with his clear and accessible prints. Andreas F*x (born in Lichtenberg in 1964) captured in photographs in the 1980s the contrast between lived reality and the aspirations of a young generation in the GDR.

FINAL DAYS : MITTE MUSEUM : QUEERE KUNST IN DER DDR? Biografien zwischen Underground und Propaganda
:
ANDREAS F*X und JÜRGEN WITTDORF at MITTE MUSEUM until 30 August AUG 2026
:
As part of the project “Queer Art in the GDR? Biographies between Underground and Propaganda”, Mitte Museum presents works by Andreas F*x and Jürgen Wittdorf.
:
The pairing of Wittdorf’s graphic works and F*x’s photographic portraits opens up a dialogue about representations of youth, the body, desire and social spaces in the GDR. Both positions reveal different approaches to portraying young people and make visible how forms of individual expression emerged between conformity, self-assertion and social expectations.
