JERGON

JERGON JERGON is a Berlin-based art space supporting emerging and mid-career artists through exhibitions, debate and sales. https://www.artsy.net/partner/jergon

With a bold, inclusive vision, it promotes photography, painting, video and performance. JERGON exists both as a physical and online space centered on art promotion, debate and sale. JERGON scouts, fosters and supports primarily Berlin-based artists both emerging and mid-career by virtue of its knowledge of the territory and the city’s very nature. Handpicking talents and attesting their value, it

carefully reflects Berlin’s internationality and status as one of the world’s most vibrant art prisms. Originally focused on photography it later broadened the scope of its activities to painting, video and performance art. Combining bold idealism with virtuous financial support for artists as well as far-sighted, rewarding investments for buyers, it pursues a paradigm shift led by the motto ‘art, regardless’ and lays the ground for what comes next for contemporary art.

Flood Under Skin, a solo exhibition by Rei Zukidou, opens Friday September 12.
The exhibition brings together a new series of large-scale canvases in which the body emerges as both fragile and powerful, revealing its fractures, rhythms, and hidden depths.
Rei Zukidou (b. 1989) is a Japanese painter based in Berlin whose practice spans abstraction and figuration, exploring existence at the threshold between the physical and the metaphysical.

River Gurara — Online exhibition by Maria Sécio, presented by JERGON and curated by Nicola Patruno, from 12 to 31 August 2025. This photographic series revisits thalassophobia—the fear of the sea—through refined long-exposure techniques and saturated colour palettes, transforming an intimate unease into images of profound atmospheric resonance (artsy.net).

Among the first artists to be represented by JERGON, Sécio presented her inaugural solo exhibition with the gallery in 2022. River Gurara continues her ongoing investigation into the intersections of emotion, perception, and the natural environment. The project was awarded the Novos Talentos FNAC 2020 photography prize in Portugal, further consolidating her position within the contemporary photographic landscape.

In Dancing Maenad, Santese draws upon the potent mythological figure of the maenad - the ecstatic priestess of Dionysus - and reimagines her as a contemporary embodiment of ritual fervor.
Curated within FESTA, this image resonates with themes of identity, transformation, life, and death — a vivid testament to Santese’s exploration of archetypal memory and collective human experience.

Festa inevitably is a tragic work, as it takes shape as an artistic confrontation with the primal and profound dimensions of humanity. The artist’s reflection on life, death and rituality translates into powerful art that blends darkness with deep, flamboyant colors.

Double date for this week's JERGON x Performing Arts event.
Join us this coming Friday & Saturday for Sarah Butler's HORSES.

HORSES is a 45-minute solo performance exposing the honest process of navigating uncomfortable and self-made circumstances. In her European premiere, multimedia artist and performer Sarah Butler intricately weaves movement, live vocals, and wearable sculpture to undress themes of identity and transformation, highlighting the impossible situations we willingly create for ourselves. Straining both the body and the voice in an attempt to access a raw, almost disturbing sense of vulnerability and beauty, this performance features highly nuanced movement, extreme physicality, dissonant harmonies, an indoor forest, and the live layering of an original acapella sound score.

Sarah Butler likes making things. Working with movement, embroidery, poetry, film, wearable structure, and vocal harmonies, she is interested in exploring how the weaving of seemingly separate mediums can result in something surprising and honest.

Tickets available at link in our bio.

See you there.

After premiering our JERGONxPerforming Arts 2024 series with a live sound art performance we are happy to share the next upcoming event: 'Mud Signs' by SUMA.

SUMA is a project of 3 Berlin-based artists who have been collaborating in the field of real time performance for several years. They perform poetically and intuitively through the mediums of dance, music and text in different locations, events and gatherings. Through their practice they set out to challenge the traditional boundaries of performance art and build a space for exploration and experimentation. Their performances are adaptable to different settings with minimal technical support and play with spontaneity and surprise in order to create an intimate and immersive experience for their audience.

‘Mud Sign’ emerges from the depths of what is raw, earthy and of essence within us. The audience is taken on a visceral journey of movement and sound filling the room as well as gestures leaving imprints in the fabric of time and space. At the heart of ‘Mud Sign’ lies the creative curiosity that is perpetually seeking to bridge the gap between what is visible and what remains unseen. The composition –fresh to each new audience– is intricately woven together to unveil the whispers hidden within the elements: a potency expressing in celebration of the fluid earth embodied in our bloodstream.

SUMA are:
Gábor Hartyáni,
Annukka Hirvonen,
Anni Lattunen,

Save the date and stay tuned for what’s next in line!
