Galerie Boisserée was founded in Cologne, Germany in 1838, and nowadays shows art of the 20th and 21st century, notably art after 1950, as well as contemporary art. Visitors will always find an important stock of works on paper, masterpieces of original prints as well as paintings of internationally established artists. Impressum

From an early age, Venet was drawn to art. Following his first drawings, he began creating performances while still a very young man and developed a deep interest in unconventional raw materials such as tar, coal, and gravel. When he moved to New York City in the 1960s, he became increasingly engaged with mathematics and astrophysics. The theoretical reflections and formulae of these academic disciplines became the foundation for his later sculptural works. His large-scale sculptures seem to be drawn into the air, they appear with ease and a certain randomness while being formed from heavy steel. Today, Bernar Venet’s work is on view in public space in Europe, Asia and the US. He is regarded as one of the most renowed contemporary artists worldwide.
