What alchemy and advances in the use of AI have in common is their origin in the human need for knowledge and wonder.
'Of the Sun and the Moon' is an exhibition about this sense of wonder. In her video installation 'Zwischen Anschlag und Algorithmus' (Between Impetus and Algorithm), the artist Anke Lohrer deliberately explores the oscillation between the analogue and AI.
The historic Olivetti typewriter machine serves as an anchor between the past and the present. Meanwhile, the video installation plays AI-generated videos on a continuous loop.
“In the art exhibition, I combine an analogue book wheel, AI-generated videos and analogue artist’s books to create a collective space for contemplation, says Anke Lohrer. ‘Between paper, light and movement, a machine explores the memory of the world. The installation demonstrates how memory is altered through machine interpretation. It poses the question: to whom does history belong when machines begin to remember it? What remains is a fragile balance between human memory and technical reconstruction.’
Anke Lohrer ist going to speak about the multilayered dimension of her installation in the upcoming Artist Talk, on 28 March 2026 | 3 pm. Don't miss it!
We appreciate your prior registration until 27 March.
