Henry Ottmann
(Ancenis 1877 – Vernon 1927)

STILL LIFE WITH FISH, SHELLS, AND BOTTLES

Ottmann was a painter and printmaker active in Brussels and Paris, where he exhibited at major salons beginning in 1904. After leaving the army in 1898—faking his own death-he settled in Belgium, where he started a family and began his artistic career.
Initially an Impressionist influenced by Renoir, he developed his own style akin to a moderate Fauvism, with a particular sensitivity toward female portraits, nudes, and everyday scenes.

He achieved success in the 1920s but died prematurely in 1927 following an accident. His work, now largely in private collections, remains little known, although recent initiatives aim to bring it back into the spotlight.

Rediscovering Ottmann means rediscovering a great artist.

Escultura en porcelana biscuit blanca mate que representa a un joven pastor desnudo sentado sobre una roca, acompañado por un perro y sosteniendo un cayado. La pieza reproduce un modelo de Bertel Thorvaldsen realizado en 1817 y producido por la manufactura danesa Bing & Grøndahl. De estilo neoclásico, destaca por la idealización de la figura, el equilibrio compositivo y la calidad de su modelado. Presenta la marca en relieve “B & G Eneret” en la base

A matte white bisque porcelain sculpture depicting a young naked shepherd sitting on a rock, accompanied by a dog and holding a crook. The piece is a reproduction of a model by Bertel Thorvaldsen created in 1817 and produced by the Danish manufacturer Bing & Grøndahl. In the Neoclassical style, it stands out for the idealization of the figure, its compositional balance, and the quality of its modeling. It bears the embossed mark “B & G Eneret” on the base.

Mesa de escritorio francesa de época Restauración, hacia 1820, realizada en caoba ma**za y chapada. Presenta tablero con cuero verde gofrado y dorado, cinco cajones con cerraduras originales y patas troncopiramidales con remates de latón dorado. Su cuidada ebanistería y las vetas flameadas de la caoba reflejan la calidad del mobiliario parisino de la época.
Gracias a su diseño exento y acabado en los cuatro lados, puede utilizarse tanto como escritorio como mesa central en interiores clásicos o contemporáneos.

Height 76 x width 129 x depth 64.5 cm

A French Restoration-period desk, circa 1820, crafted from solid and veneered mahogany. It features a tabletop with embossed green leather and gilded trim, five drawers with original locks, and truncated pyramid-shaped legs with gilded brass finials. Its meticulous cabinetry and the flamed grain of the mahogany reflect the quality of Parisian furniture of the period.
Thanks to its freestanding design and finish on all four sides, it can be used both as a desk and as a center table in classic or contemporary interiors.
