GISOO KIM — STITCHED PHOTOGRAPHY — Exhibition at the Museum of Art
Gisoo Kim creates poetic, often surreal compositions in which photography, memory, and imagination become inseparably intertwined. Using needle and thread, she cuts, rearranges, and stitches together photographs of different landscapes, places, and moments, transforming fragments of reality into entirely new visual worlds. Her delicate embroidery serves not only to connect the images but also becomes an independent form of drawing, introducing lines, textures, and unexpected layers of depth. Like fragments of a dream, seemingly unrelated scenes merge into imaginary landscapes where boundaries between places, memories, and experiences dissolve. Through this distinctive interplay of photography and stitching, Kim creates works that invite viewers to discover new connections between the familiar and the imagined.
