In May 2026, Philipp Pflug Contemporary brings a compelling presentation to MIETESTROMGAS in Berlin, highlighting works by Bettina von Arnim together with contributions from Sebastian Stöhrer and Stefan Wieland.

Bettina von Arnim’s paintings and prints occupy a singular place within post-war German Realism. Her striking visual language merges elements of Pop aesthetics, political commentary and dystopian imagination. In her iconic “machine people”, hybrid figures intertwine human and mechanical forms, reflecting on themes of alienation, control and shifting social identities. Oscillating between fascination and critique, her works confront the relationship between humanity, technology and systems of power with remarkable relevance today.

Set within the distinctive atmosphere of MIETESTROMGAS, the exhibition opens a layered dialogue between historical perspectives and contemporary concerns, where art, collectible objects and spatial staging become deeply interconnected.

Opening: May 1, 2026 | 6–10 pm
Exhibition: May 2 – June 13, 2026

This spring, Philipp Pflug Contemporary presents a special exhibition at MIETESTROMGAS in Berlin, with a strong focus on the sculptural works of Sebastian Stöhrer, alongside works by Bettina von Arnim and Stefan Wieland.

Stöhrer’s ceramic sculptures move between organic growth and artificial construction, evoking futuristic organisms, microscopic structures and speculative life forms. Balancing fragility and tension, his works blur the boundaries between the living and the inanimate, drawing inspiration from biology, science fiction and material experimentation. Their tactile surfaces and unexpected forms create an immersive visual language that feels both alien and strangely familiar.

Within the distinctive setting of MIETESTROMGAS, the exhibition unfolds as a dialogue between contemporary art, collectible design and spatial atmosphere — transforming the showroom into a dynamic environment of perception, materiality and imagination.

Between sculpture, design, and installation, Stefan Wieland creates poetic objects that redefine light, material, and perception. His iconic acrylic glass “lamps” resist functionality and instead become autonomous stage-like compositions filled with humor, absurdity, and narrative openness.

In spring 2026, Stefan Wieland will be presented by Philipp Pflug Contemporary at MIETESTROMGAS in Berlin.
