Global Young Academy Global Young Academy (GYA) - Providing a voice to young scientists and researchers around the world

The Global Young Academy was founded in 2010 with the vision to be the voice of young scientists around the world. The GYA empowers early-career researchers to lead international, interdisciplinary, and intergenerational dialogue by developing and mobilizing talent from six continents. Its purpose is to promote reason and inclusiveness in global decision-making. Members are chosen for their demons

trated excellence in scientific achievement and commitment to service. Currently there are 200 members and 134 alumni from 72 countries. The GYA enjoyed the support of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW) from 2011 until 2016 and is now hosted at the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in Halle (Saale), Germany. The GYA received its seed funding from the Volkswagen Foundation and has since 2014 been funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and supported by IAP - the Global Network of Science Academies. The GYA has also benefited from project funding from a variety of donors and partners.

🌎 Call for Applications: U.S.-Arab Frontiers of Science, Engineering, and Medicine Symposium 2027

We are pleased to announce the call for applications for the U.S.-Arab Frontiers of Science, Engineering, and Medicine Symposium, taking place February 1–3, 2027, in Kuwait City, Kuwait.

Hosted by the The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, in partnership with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), this program brings together outstanding early- and mid-career scientists, engineers, and medical professionals (within 15 years of their highest degree) from the United States and Arab League countries to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and scientific exchange.

1. Computational Methodologies for Scientific Discovery
2. Sensing Technologies
3. Metabolism–Immunity Interactions
4. Water Security

The GYA is hosting a Falling Walls Lab for the first time at our 2026 AGM, and registration is now open!

Falling Walls Lab presenters pitch three minutes with three slides, and a Jury selects one winner of the competition – a project that demonstrates creativity, scientific excellence, and global impact.The winner is invited to pitch at the Falling Walls Science Summit in November 2026 in Berlin, Germany.
