Für die von uns entwickelte PLAYMOBIL® Figur stimmten wir uns sehr eng mit SCHOTT ab, um den Begründer der modernen Glaschemie bestmöglich zu würdigen. Heute stellten wir diese Figur in der SCHOTT Villa vor, im ehemaligen Wohnhaus des revolutionären Glaschemikers Otto Schott schuf nach den Vorgaben Ernst Abbes völlig neue optische Gläser. Daran erinnert das optische Rohglas in der Hand der Figur. Die Bücherreihe und das aufgeschlagene Buch auf dem Tisch verdeutlichen seine systematische, wissenschaftliche Pionierarbeit – so dokumentierte er in den Schmelzbüchern
lückenlos seine Schmelzversuche. Die drei Reagenzgläser versinnbildlichen die bis heute große Produktpalette des Technologiekonzerns SCHOTT AG.

With the new Playmobil special edition figure of Otto Schott, Jena’s trio of optics pioneers is now complete.✨
We developed the PLAYMOBIL® figure in close collaboration SCHOTT, in order to honor the founder of modern glass chemistry. Today we presented it to the public first time in his former home.
Along the requirements by Ernst Abbe, Otto Schott developed entirely new types of optical glass. This is symbolized by the piece of optical raw glass held in the figure’s hand. The row of books and the open book on the table highlight his systematic, scientific pioneering work — in his smelting books, he meticulously
documented every glass-melting experiment. The three test tubes represent the broad product portfolio of the technology company SCHOTT AG, which continues to this day.
Each package includes a richly illustrated booklet in German and English, offering more knowledge with a touch of pioneering spirit.
