Aktuell zu sehen in der Ausstellung „Wandern in Geschichte. Die Fotografie von Ulrich Wüst“:

Wissensspeicher Wehrausbildung: Volk und Wissen Volkseigener Verlag, Berlin 1979. Schulbuch für die neunten und zehnten Klassen WALD. „Der Wald beeinflußt auf Grund seiner taktischen Eigenschaften die Lösung militärischer Aufgaben in besonderer Weise.“ (Seite 87/88) Das ganze Buch handelt von Töten und Tod, allein diese offensichtliche Tatsache wird nirgends benannt, das Wort bleibt tabu! Tot/Tod kommt lediglich als „Toter Raum“ vor, was ja, ganz positiv, einen vom Beschuss geschützten Raum bezeichnet. Selbst für das Schicksal des Gegners wird das Wort „töten“ vermieden, da werden eher Ziele vernichtet. — Ulrich Wüst

Wissensspeicher Wehrausbildung: Volk und Wissen, Volkseigener Verlag, Berlin, 1979. School textbook for the ninth and tenth grades FOREST. “The forest, because of its tactical characteristics, has a significant influence on the solution of military tasks.” (pp. 87–88) Although the entire book is about killing and death, this obvious fact is never directly acknowledged; the word itself remains taboo. Death appears only in the expression “dead ground”, a term with relatively positive connotations, referring to an area protected from enemy fire. Even when describing the enemy’s fate, the word “killing” is avoided, with terms such as “destroying the target” being used instead. — Ulrich Wüst
