CUT COPY PASTE UND BOOM

From March 22-24, 2026, 16 eighth-grade students from Helmholtzschule Leipzig joined the workshop CUT COPY PASTE UND BOOM at the a&o Kunsthalle.

Guided by artists and whose duo exhibition “A Shared Studio” is currently on view, the workshop moved between drawing practice, writing, collage and sound experimentation.

Starting from their individual encounters with the exhibition, the participants translated objects, materials, fragments of text and sounds into drawings and collective zine-making processes. The workshop expanded into sound. Using handmade voice amplifiers and a loop station the students transformed texts and drawings from their zines into sound experiments.

The workshop aimed to create an accessible encounter with contemporary art while encouraging collective exchange, experimentation and individual artistic expression.

Special thanks to Helmholtzschule Leipzig for the collaboration and Stadt Leipzig and Stiftung Erlebnis Kunst for the generous support!

SPOTLIGHT
Katharina Zimmerhackl

Our next exhibition “A Shared Studio” opening March 26, will feature works by and Katharina Zimmerhackl. Bringing together two artistic positions, the exhibition unfolds itself through different approaches.

Katharina Zimmerhackl’s artistic practice is research-based and conceptual. Her work is driven by an interest in visual and literary language, collective working processes and a critical engagement with history. A particular focus is on the body and physicality as a political field: How are bodies depicted, constructed and remembered? Zimmerhackl approaches these questions primarily from a feminist perspective, in a manner that is both analytical and poetic.

Extensive research produces scripts, notations or scores that serve as systems for organizing and (re)structuring knowledge. These texts are activated performatively: in readings that employ musical means, with stage directions, or in scenic arrangements reminiscent of theatrical spaces. In this way, language becomes action, and the text an open score of collective readability.

NEW PUBLICATION
Jonas Fahrenberger
„Zwischen Flur & Treppenhaus“

For Edition 03, the works of take center stage. On the following pages, not only curatorial and conceptual connections within the exhibition space become visible, but also the underlying archival material. Advertising flyers, business cards from car dealerships, or a cancelled lottery ticket come to the fore, making Fahrenberger’s working process immediately tangible. Between the pages rest ideas that—long since outgrowing their original purpose—unfold a new life within his images.
We would like to warmly thank Jonas Fahrenberger for the collaboration and for the wonderful exhibition. It was a pleasure to work together on its realization and on this edition. We also extend our thanks to for their support, as well as to and for the accompanying texts.
