SPOTLIGHT
Katharina Zimmerhackl
Our next exhibition “A Shared Studio” opening March 26, will feature works by and Katharina Zimmerhackl. Bringing together two artistic positions, the exhibition unfolds itself through different approaches.
Katharina Zimmerhackl’s artistic practice is research-based and conceptual. Her work is driven by an interest in visual and literary language, collective working processes and a critical engagement with history. A particular focus is on the body and physicality as a political field: How are bodies depicted, constructed and remembered? Zimmerhackl approaches these questions primarily from a feminist perspective, in a manner that is both analytical and poetic.
Extensive research produces scripts, notations or scores that serve as systems for organizing and (re)structuring knowledge. These texts are activated performatively: in readings that employ musical means, with stage directions, or in scenic arrangements reminiscent of theatrical spaces. In this way, language becomes action, and the text an open score of collective readability.
