Immanuel Birkert is included in the exhibition “On Paradise” May 31 — August 28, 2026
[…] The exhibition understands paradise not as a real place, but as a powerful concept that shapes landscapes, bodies, and social structures. Interior spaces and garden are closely intertwined. What appears inside the house as motif or narrative continues outside as a spatial experience. At its core lies less an origin than a loss. Within visual traditions, paradise often appears as the memory of a condition that has already disappeared. Yet this longing is not without consequences. Landscapes are designed, bodies are regulated, and nature is transformed into image. […]

Oskar Schmidt is part of the group exhibition “Die Kids sind nicht alright!” at Museum unter Tage, Bochum
May 7 — September 13, 2026
When the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, the artists featured in the group exhibition “Die Kids sind nicht alright!” were all still children. Having grown up in the years just before and after reunification—a period marked for their parents’ and grandparents’ generation by profound reorientation, uncertainty, and crisis—they engage in their works with their own processes of socialization in the former GDR and with their respective family histories.
The exhibition brings into focus questions of identity and origin, along with the possibilities and limitations that are entangled with them. At the same time, it articulates a critical perspective on both political systems—East and West—while reflecting on broader societal values and the economic challenges that have shaped these lived experiences.

Tatjana Doll is part of the exhibition:
“Klassenverhältnisse – die zweite Staffel
Kunstlehre von 1946 bis 2026”
May 10 — September 27, 2026

Following the first part »Class Relations. Teachers, Learners, Artists«, the Kunsthaus NRW is continuing the exhibition project in 2026 with new artworks and thematic focuses. »Class Relations – The Second Season« explores the cosmos of the art academy through around 130 works from its own collection as well as selected loans from the Academy Gallery of the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.
The new exhibition takes the classical art genres as its guiding thread: painting, sculpture, photography, works on paper, printmaking, film, video, performance, as well as all the hybrid forms of contemporary art production. In addition to questions of craft-based training, aspects that are more difficult to grasp come into play: How is something like attitude, conceptual thinking, or even – think of Sigmar Polke – humor conveyed?
