Bewegungsworkshop & Performance
mit Julieta Ortiz de Latierro () und Erbse aka Alena Trapp ()

Was passiert, wenn wir uns jenseits des Menschlichen bewegen? Wir laden ein zu einer Reihe von Bewegungsworkshops, die die Beziehung zwischen Mensch und Tier über körperliche Praxis erforschen. Gemeinsam experimentieren wir mit Wahrnehmung, Neugier und nonverbaler Kommunikation.

Ob ihr an den Workshops teilnehmt oder nicht, wir laden euch herzlich ein, an der abschließenden öffentlichen Performance vor dem Tierpark Lichtenberg teilzunehmen, in der wir Fragen von Bewegung, Flucht und den ethischen Dimensionen des Zoo-Erlebens reflektieren.

Wir haben uns sehr gefreut, zwei Gruppen des Ardenne-Gymnasiums (Lichtenberg) in der Ausstellung Shifting Weathers im Villa Heike Kunstverein zu begrüßen. In Zusammenarbeit mit Kunstvermittlung Lichtenberg haben wir gemeinsam über Wetter, Klima und Kunst gesprochen. Im Anschluss nahmen die Schüler:innen an einem Siebdruck-Workshop teil, der von den Arbeiten von Susanne Kriemann ausging und Prozesse von Bildproduktion, Materialität und Atmosphäre in eigene Drucke übersetzte.

We were very happy to welcome two groups from Ardenne-Gymnasium (Lichtenberg) to the exhibition Shifting Weathers at Villa Heike Kunstverein. In collaboration with Kunstvermittlung Lichtenberg, we discussed weather, climate, and art together. Afterwards, the students took part in a screen printing workshop inspired by the works of Susanne Kriemann, translating processes of image production, materiality, and atmosphere into their own prints.

The weather has been cancelled (TWHBC) ist eine Publikation von Jasmijn Visser (mit Ingmar König), die parallel zur Installation in der Ausstellung Shifting Weathers im Villa Heike Kunstverein sowie zu deren Beta-Präsentation als interaktives Fiction-Videospiel entwickelt wurde. Sie wurde von Shortnotice Studio (.studio) gestaltet, mit konzeptueller Beratung von Lantian Xie und Script Editing von Nicky Rehnberg (), und ist bei J*p Sam Books () erschienen.

Die Entwicklung von TWHBC wurde durch das Stimuleringsfonds () und das Meertens Instituut () gefördert. Die Konzeptentwicklung wurde unterstützt von Cultural Climate Models, CREAM (University of Westminster, London), sowie dem Rachel Carson Center (München). Die Produktion der Publikation wurde durch das Mondriaan Fonds () ermöglicht.

Shifting Weathers ist noch bis zum 02.05.2026 zu sehen.

The weather has been cancelled (TWHBC) is a publication by Jasmijn Visser (with Ingmar König), developed in parallel to the installation in the exhibition Shifting Weathers at Villa Heike Kunstverein and its beta presentation as an interactive fiction videogame. It is designed by Shortnotice Studio (.studio), with conceptual consultation by Lantian Xie and script editing by Nicky Rehnberg (), and published by J*p Sam Books ().

Shifting Weathers, nur noch eine Woche zu sehen im Villa Heike Kunstverein

Die Ausstellung Shifting Weathers versammelt Arbeiten von Susanne Kriemann, Jasmijn Visser (mit Ingmar König) und Luiz Zanotello und setzt sich mit Wetter, Klima und bildgebenden Technologien auseinander. Während Klima in der Öffentlichkeit durch technische Bilder, Messungen und Prognosen sichtbar wird, entfaltet es sich zugleich in langsamen Prozessen, die sich unserer unmittelbaren Wahrnehmung entziehen.

Die Ausstellung versteht Wetter als einen fortwährenden Zustand, der Wahrnehmung, Empfinden und Zeitlichkeit prägt. Sie richtet den Blick auf die komplexen Bedingungen, die der medialen Vermittlung und Interpretation von Wetter und Klima zugrunde liegen, und zeigt zugleich, wie künstlerische Praktiken jenseits von Katastrophenbildern neue Perspektiven auf die Vielschichtigkeit des Klimas eröffnen.

Shifting Weathers, only one more week on view at Villa Heike Kunstverein

The exhibition Shifting Weathers brings together works by Susanne Kriemann, Jasmijn Visser (with Ingmar König), and Luiz Zanotello, engaging with weather, climate, and imaging technologies. While climate becomes publicly visible through technical images, measurements, and forecasts, it simultaneously unfolds through slow processes that often evade immediate perception.

The exhibition approaches weather as a continuous condition, shaping perception, sensation, and temporality. It draws attention to the complex structures underlying how weather and climate are mediated and interpreted, while foregrounding artistic practices that move beyond disaster imagery to open up more nuanced perspectives on climate’s many layers.

Die Jury besteht aus:
Yasmine Benhadj-Djilali ist Architektin, Kuratorin und Dozentin. Ihre Arbeit konzentriert sich auf Regionen des Wandels sowie auf politische und soziale Umbrüche, insbesondere in der arabischen Welt. Sie lebt in Berlin und leitet das Architektur- und Designstudio YBDD sowie die Galerie BENHADJ&DJILALI.

Barbara Esch Marowski ist Kuratorin und Autorin mit Schwerpunkt auf künstlerischer Fotografie und audiovisuellen Medien. Von 2011 bis 2025 leitete sie das Haus am Kleistpark / Kommunale Galerien Tempelhof-Schöneberg in Berlin.

Moritz Jekat ist Künstler. Seine multidisziplinäre Praxis verbindet analoge und digitale Bildräume und untersucht affektive Infrastrukturen, digitale Verwandtschaft und spekulative Formen von Koexistenz.

Wiebke Loeper ist Künstlerin und Professorin für Fotografie an der Fachhochschule Potsdam. Ihre Arbeit bewegt sich zwischen dokumentarischer und persönlicher Fotografie und beschäftigt sich mit Erinnerung, urbaner Transformation und postsozialistischen Bildräumen.

Michael Schäfer ist Künstler und künstlerischer Leiter des Villa Heike Kunstvereins. Seine Arbeit verbindet technische Bildpraktiken mit gesellschaftlichen Fragestellungen und arbeitet häufig mit digitaler Montage und fotografischem Material.

Emeka Okereke ist Künstler, Forscher und Kulturproduzent zwischen Lagos und Berlin. Seine Praxis umfasst Fotografie, Video, Sound und Poesie und beschäftigt sich mit Grenzen in ihren physischen, ideologischen und psychologischen Dimensionen.

PERFORMATIVE READING AND CONVERSATION
Being a Photograph
Susanne Kriemann

Susanne Kriemann presents a performative reading from her recent reader Being a Photograph (Edition Camera Austria), as part of the symposium Shifting Weathers – On Image, Climate and the Politics of Seeing. In the reader she approaches photography as an active and relational form, unfolding across materials, temporalities, and sites. The reading is accompanied by a conversation reflecting on her recent residency in Al-Ula and Tayma with the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) and the Goethe-Institut Riyadh, where Kriemann explored the entanglement of ancient data and contemporary consumer waste.

Susanne Kriemann is an artist based in Berlin. She is Professor for Code & Image at the University of Arts and Design Karlsruhe and teaches at NYU Berlin. Her work expands the notion of the photographic document, exploring landscapes as recording systems shaped by human activity. Working across installation, publication, and research, she engages with ecological, geological, and archival processes, tracing connections between past, present, and speculative futures. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at Kunsthalle Wien, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and C/O Berlin, and in biennials such as Shanghai and Gothenburg.

Daphne Dragona in conversation with Luiz Zanotello

Daphne Dragona and Luiz Zanotello come together as part of the symposium Shifting Weathers – On Image, Climate and the Politics of Seeing. Dragona examines the ambivalent role of technology in the context of the climate crisis, engaging questions of degrowth in art and culture. Zanotello’s artistic research explores the material ecologies of techno-imagination, tracing intersections of space, language, and environment through post-digital and transmedia approaches. Their conversation considers how weather, time, and image-making intersect within contemporary technical media, as well as the politics of machinic vision and possibilities for artistic appropriation.

Daphne Dragona is a curator, theorist, and writer based in Berlin and Athens. Her work addresses the ambivalent role of technology in the climate crisis and engages questions of degrowth in art and culture. She has presented projects internationally, including at the Onassis Foundation and EMST (Athens), Laboral (Gijón), and Aksioma (Ljubljana). She curated transmediale (2015–2019) and EMAF (2021–2023), and currently teaches at the Ionian University.

Luiz Zanotello is an artist and researcher exploring the material ecologies of techno-imagination. His post-digital practice traces intersections of space, language, and environment through installations and research-based formats. He is a PhD candidate at PhDArts (Leiden University) and has exhibited internationally, including in Zagreb, Vienna, and Venice. He previously served as Assistant Professor for New Media at UdK Berlin.

Für die Ausstellung Bildräume der Solidarität im Villa Heike Kunstverein in Berlin suchen wir künstlerische Arbeiten, die Solidarität sichtbar machen, hinterfragen oder selbst als Akt der Solidarität verstehen.

Eingereicht werden können Arbeiten im erweiterten Feld technischer Bilder: Fotografie, Video, computergenerierte Bilder, Installationen oder hybride Formate.

Die Ausstellung versteht sich als Raum des Austauschs, in dem unterschiedliche Perspektiven auf Solidarität in Beziehung treten.

Teilnahmeberechtigt sind Künstler:innen aus Berlin und Brandenburg (Emerging und etablierte Positionen, Einzelpersonen oder Kollektive).

Philosophizing Weather in Times of Climate Change: Tracing Altered Senses of Place, Time and Affect
Lecture by Prof. Marjolein Oele

In times of climate change, there’s an abundance of natural-scientific studies that describe the facts and changes of weather patterns. However, changing weather patterns also leave various cognitive, practical and emotional traces. In this talk as part of the Symposium Shifting Weathers – On Image, Climate and the Politics of Seeing, Prof. Marjolein Oele will provide a philosophical analysis of how current weather phenomena cannot only be traced by external scientific measurements, but need testimonial evidence from the humanities and the arts, providing valuable access to altered senses of place, time, and affect.

Marjolein Oele is Professor of Philosophy of the Humanities at Radboud University. Her research weaves together Ancient Philosophy, Continental Philosophy, and Environmental Philosophy. She is the author of Beyond Elemental Loss (SUNY, 2025) and E-Co-Affectivity (SUNY, 2020), co-editor of Ontologies of Nature (Springer, 2017), and Editor-in-Chief of the journal Environmental Philosophy.
