Christine Brunella’s drawings speak to the experience of seeing plants not merely as objects of observation, but as a living presence. The sheet of paper becomes a place of encounter, where the artist’s attention connects with the autonomy of the living plant. What takes place here is not appropriation, but resonance.

In Japanese aesthetics, there is a term for this attitude: mono no aware. It refers to that quiet stirring that arises when we experience the beauty of the world while being mindful of its transience. The fleeting nature of things is not lamented. Precisely because nothing lasts, every moment gains its depth.
