Today, as some of you may know, the utterly awesome Juramuseum Eichstätt opened its doors for what may well be the very last time! There appears now to be a three month grace period, during which the museum will stay closed and some renovations will be carried out. A three month grace period that allows all those involved in the museum's funding and running to keep negotiations going and maybe, hopefully, reach a consensus that allows this great place to re-open.
Well, I have been very busy indeed lately, what with work (secret!), family and my wife's work (moving; I need to help), so although I knew about the imminent closure for quite a while I only managed to pay a last visit to the Juramuseum today.
Admittedly, I make 3D models of all kinds of museum objects without explicit permission quite often. For my own enjoyment, though, not for commercial purposes. Sometimes, I send them off to the museum in question, and usually those data packages are either well received or at least not detested. Only once did I find a curator totally royally pi**ed - data theft he called it. Well, there is a "delete" button in my keyboard...... Needless to say, a few months later the curator asked me to re-send, as he wanted to make use of the data 🙄
So today, I spent some time creating very high resolution models of some of the more beautiful fossils on show at the Juramuseum. For my own enjoyment, so please do not ask me for the data unless you have the museum's OK.
For YOUR enjoyment, here's a few orthophotos rendered from the colored (not textured) models :) These are JPG versions of reduced resolution (50% both axes, so 25% overall!) orthophotos. Yes, as just a 'regular' museum visitor I was able to capture this level of detail. And yes, these models are very exactly scaled, using my own highly accurate Palaeo3D scale bars :D [/bragging]
Have fun, and X your fingers that the Juramuseum will come back, ideally even better funded, on April 1, 2019!

Note that back then, the threat of closure was not even on the horizon.)
