Die Sammlung des Museum Jerke besteht aus 600 Exponaten und enthält Raritäten der polnischen Avantgarde der 1920er Jahre und der polnischen Moderne ab 1960. Einige der Exponate wurden bereits weltweit ausgestellt u.a. im Museum of Modern Art in New York.

„Kunstwerke gehören niemals einem allein. Sie werden vom Besitzer lediglich auf Zeit gepachtet. Ich bin froh, wenn ich sie für einen Moment halt

en kann. Das Entscheidende ist aber, dass sie der gesamten Gesellschaft gehören“. Mit der Jerke Art Foundation möchte Dr. Werner Jerke die Kunstwerke der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich machen. Werner Jerke kam 1981 aus dem oberschlesischen Pyskowice nach Deutschland. Schon während seines Medizinstudiums in Bonn begann er polnische Kunst zu sammeln. Das von ihm privat finanzierte Museum Jerke beherbergt nicht nur die eigene Kunstsammlung, sondern steht auch als Projektraum für Veranstaltungen offen.

Today marks the last day of “Words Reflect on Themselves” at the Museum Jerke in Recklinghausen.

With the exhibition coming to a close, we would like to acknowledge everyone who contributed to this project – curator Daniel Muzyczuk and the artists and poets involved: Zuzanna Bartoszek, Wojciech Bąkowski, Marcin Czerkasow, Darek Foks, Agata Ingarden, Paweł Kowalewski, Tomasz Kowalski, Emilia Konwerska, Natalia Malek, Anna Ostoya, Andrzej Partum, Małgorzata Rittersschild, Tomasz Żołnierkiewicz – as well as our partners: the Polish Institute in Düsseldorf, Stefan Gierowski Foundation, and CU Art.
