Come walk with me Inside Edfu temple ❤️
Walking inside the Temple of Edfu feels like stepping back 2,000 years 🤎
It’s one of the most complete temples in Egypt, dedicated to Horus, the falcon god.
Every wall is covered in carvings and stories that survived almost untouched by time.
They even call it the “Temple of Love” because of the beautiful myths of Horus and Hathor here.
Walking through its huge halls and quiet chambers is pure magic ✨

Come walk with me inside the temple ✨

This is the temple of Nefertari, built by Ramesses II for his favorite queen. What’s wild is he had her statues made the same height as his own — a huge deal back then, since queens were usually shown much smaller.

Walking through here feels like stepping into a love letter carved in stone 💛

In Philae Temple in Aswan, in 394 AD, there was a priest named Esmet-Akhom or Nesmētakhem.
He was one of the last priests of Isis. At that time, ancient Egyptian religion was fading and Christianity was spreading.

Before the temple closed, he carved the last known hieroglyphic inscription on the temple wall:
“Before Isis the Great, all my Lady, I have written this inscription.”

That was the last time anyone wrote official hieroglyphs. After that, the script died out and wasn’t decoded again for 1400 years until the Rosetta Stone.

So Esmet-Akhom is known as the “last Egyptian priest” and “the last person to write hieroglyphs”. .

This shot is above the Valley of the Kings
The star you see is (Sirius - Sopdet) to the ancient Egyptians

They watched the sky with precision
Sirius would vanish for 70 days, then rise with the sun
Exactly the mummification period

Its rising marked the New Year and the Nile flood
So they linked it to Isis and rebirth after death

That’s why the Valley of the Kings was built here
A place connecting their kings to the stars and the afterlife
