🌿 VII European Day of Historic Gardens | Spring in ზუგდიდის ბოტანიკური ბაღი / Zugdidi Botanical Garden

Following the celebration of the VII European Day of Historic Gardens ( ) on April 26, activities continue today, April 27, at the Zugdidi Botanical Garden, as part of this European-wide initiative promoted by the European Route of Historic Gardens.

As part of the programme “Spring in Zugdidi Botanical Garden” (April 27), the garden hosts a variety of activities including exhibitions of cultivated plants, presentations of herbariums and handmade works, ceremonial plantings and public engagement initiatives celebrating spring and biodiversity.

🌱 This programme reflects the garden’s commitment to raising awareness of environmental protection, promoting biodiversity and fostering a harmonious relationship with nature.

🌿🎉 Today, April 26th, the European Route of Historic Gardens proudly celebrated a double milestone: the VII European Day of Historic Gardens and the 10th Anniversary of the Route.
From across Europe, our member gardens have brought this special day to life with inspiring activities that connect heritage, art, and sustainability.

🖌🎨🌴 At Huerto del Cura, the celebration blossomed into a vibrant open-air studio with the rapid painting competition “The Historic Garden: Sustainability and European Inspiration.” Surrounded by palm trees, artists captured the spirit of this unique landscape, reflecting the deep bond between nature, culture, and creativity.

After an intense morning of artistic creation and a challenging deliberation due to the outstanding quality of the works, the winners of the 2026 edition are:

🏆 First Prize: María Teresa Durá Sepulcre, for her masterful interpretation of the garden’s essence and technique (€2,000).

🥈 Second Prize: Antonio Gomis Hurtado (€1,000).

👏 The jury also awarded eight honorary mentions to Miriam Sansano, Francisco R. Antón Escolano, Stefani Georgieva Georgieva, Wenceslao Pérez Martínez, Eduardo Miguel Berenguer Soto, Remberto Martínez, Javier Ato Calderón, and Andrew Weber for the originality and merit of their works.

We are pleased to highlight the participation of the საქართველოს ეროვნული ბოტანიკური ბაღი • National Botanical Garden of Georgia in the VII European Day of Historic Gardens ( ), as part of the European-wide celebration promoted by the European Route of Historic Gardens .

A diverse programme of educational and cultural activities took place throughout the day, including guided tours exploring the garden’s historical, ecological and aesthetic features, a hands-on planting workshop, a symbolic tree planting and a thematic exhibition on European historic gardens.

We are pleased to highlight the participation of Schloss Waldegg in the VII European Day of Historic Gardens ( ), as part of the European-wide celebration promoted by the European Route of Historic Gardens.

During the day, visitors were guided through the gardens by a tree expert, discovering the cultural and ecological value of the historic tree population, as well as the challenges posed by climate change.

We are pleased to highlight the participation of Esterházy Palace in the European Day of Historic Gardens ( ), as part of the European-wide celebration promoted by the European Route of Historic Gardens.

Through thematic guided walks such as “The Flowers of Eszterháza from Spring to Autumn, Past and Present”, visitors were invited to discover the history and evolution of the gardens, gaining insight into the legacy of aristocratic garden design.

🌿 VII European Day of Historic Gardens | Research and Innovation in El Bosque de Béjar

As part of the European Day of Historic Gardens ( ), El Bosque de Béjar (Aytobejaroficial) presents a technical workshop exploring the historical evolution of this Renaissance garden through archaeological research and new technologies.

📅 April 26 | Archaeological Research & Interactive Workshop
🌿 Presentation of recent studies carried out in areas such as the formal garden, orchard and dye pond, using surveys and geophysical methods to better understand the site’s history and development.

🎓 The workshop will bring together students, professors and heritage professionals, and will also examine the garden’s connections with other European examples.

🌿 VII European Day of Historic Gardens | Discover the Baroque Garden of Wildegg

As part of the European Day of Historic Gardens ( ), Schloss Wildegg - Museum Aargau invites visitors to explore one of Switzerland’s most important Baroque gardens.

📅 April 26 | Programme of activities:

• 🌿 Guided tours (11:30 & 14:00)
Discover a garden laid out around 1700, inspired by Versailles and shaped by Baroque design principles

🌹 The Baroque and rose gardens can also be explored independently throughout the day, including areas dedicated to traditional crops and rare varieties cultivated with ProSpecieRara
