Die Künstler:innen auf der beweisen immer wieder, dass Kreativität, künstlerisches Schaffen und politisches Anliegen sehr gut miteinander vereinbar sind. So wie bei den einzigartigen Arbeiten des Künstlers Nazir Rahguzar aus Afghanistan. Wir haben mit ihm auf der Frankfurt über seine Serie „Desire and Captivity“ gesprochen. Besonders eindrucksvoll fanden wir das Statement von Somaye Parsa, die sich als Vertreterin und Botschafterin für Frauen in Afghanistan so zeigt, wie afghanische Frauen sich gerne in der Öffentlichkeit zeigen würden, aber dies nicht mehr dürfen…
Er ist Gründer und künstlerischer Leiter der Mahoor Art and Culture association in Paris und arbeitet dort als freischaffender Künstler.
Mit seinem Engagement und seiner künstlerischen Leitung fördert er die afghanische Kulturszene auch im Ausland. Er gibt afghanischen Künstlern und Themen eine Bühne, insbesondere im Kontext von gesellschaftlicher Veränderung und der Situation von Frauen in Afghanistan.
Nazir Rahguzar steht exemplarisch für eine neue Generation afghanischer Künstler, die nicht nur auf ästhetischer, sondern auch auf gesellschaftlicher Ebene wirken und sich für Dialog, Erinnerung und Hoffnung einsetzen.

The artists at the consistently demonstrate that creativity, artistic practice and political purpose can be powerfully combined. This is especially true of the unique works of Afghan artist Nazir Rahguzar. We spoke with him at Frankfurt about his series “Desire and Captivity”. We were particularly moved by the statement from Somaye Parsa, who, as a representative and ambassador for women in Afghanistan, presents herself in the way Afghan women would like to appear in public but are no longer allowed to.
He is the founder and artistic director of the Mahoor Art and Culture association in Paris, where he also works as a freelance artist. Through his commitment and artistic leadership, he supports the Afghan cultural scene abroad and gives Afghan artists and issues a platform, especially in the context of social change and the situation of women in Afghanistan.
Nazir Rahguzar stands as a representative of a new generation of Afghan artists who create not only on an aesthetic level but also engage socially and advocate for dialogue, remembrance and hope.
