👁️ Château eyes
Kaitlyn Tucek, 2026
What if the Château started looking back?
Two eyes, taken from The Unicorn Rests in a Garden, leave the White Gallery and move onto the Château’s façade. Suspended within the architecture, they seem to watch the courtyard, the artworks… and perhaps those who are looking at them. 👁️
Created in response to Erin LeAnn Mitchell’s Constellations of Home, the banners extend the dialogue between the two artists and bring the exhibition into the architecture itself.
An artwork that refuses to stay in one place: it moves, watches, and almost seems to come alive.
✨ Come discover Château Eyes in person — and let yourself be watched in return.

👁️ Château eyes
Kaitlyn Tucek, 2026

✨ The Unicorn Rests in a Garden
A work by Kaitlyn Tucek, created at Château de La Napoule during her artist residency in the weeks leading up to the opening of Mise en abyme.
Born in the White Gallery, the work shares a unique connection with the place where it came to life. Its title references the famous Unicorn Tapestries at The Met Cloisters in New York while also carrying a more personal story.
Come and experience it in person.
📍 Mise en abyme is on view until September 20, 2026, at La Napoule Art Foundation.

✨ The Unicorn Rests in a Garden

✨ Fountain No. 9 & Fountain No. 10
Kaitlyn Tucek, 2026
Two paintings, two places, one conversation.
Fountain No. 9 was begun in Kaitlyn Tucek’s studio in Colorado, with the intention of creating a partner piece at La Napoule. Back at the Château, the artist created Fountain No. 10 — a response to the first painting, with more space and light.
Connected by their golden greens and recurring forms, the two works form a diptych where Colorado and La Napoule meet. A conversation between distance and presence, between two places and two moments of creation.
👀 Look at them together, side by side… and come experience them in person in the White Gallery.

✨ Fountain No. 9 & Fountain No. 10
Kaitlyn Tucek, 2026

🧵 What do you see first: four figures, a textile surface, or a collective story?
With WARP / WEFT, Erin LeAnn Mitchell uses weaving as a way of thinking about continuity, movement, and Black experience.
In weaving, the warp runs lengthwise, while the weft crosses through it to create the fabric. Here, they become a metaphor for ancestry, migration, and adaptation.
Four connected figures, different materials and motifs coming together: fragments woven into a shared construction.
👀 Take your time, look closely, and discover what emerges as you look.

✨ Fountain No. 2
Kaitlyn Tucek, 2025
A shape appears, then seems to shift.
Is it a fountain? A tree? A piece of architecture? Perhaps a little of all three.
In Fountain No. 2, Kaitlyn Tucek layers painting and drawing, bringing acrylic, oil, graphite, charcoal, colored pencil and oil pastel together. Layers overlap and interact, allowing an intentionally open-ended image to emerge.
Part of a series that began before Mise en abyme, the work offers another way of discovering the forms that continue in Fountain No. 9 and Fountain No. 10.

✨ Fountain No. 2
Kaitlyn Tucek, 2025

There is a Safe Place to Land
Erin LeAnn Mitchell, 2026
A flag, a landscape, a sentence suspended in the air.
With There is a Safe Place to Land, Erin LeAnn Mitchell reflects on migration, belonging, and the search for a place to land.
Inspired by Going Home, an African American spiritual performed by Alice Coltrane in 1972, the work carries both an intimate and collective dimension.
On July 4, 2026, accompanied by the music, the flag was raised on one of the Château’s towers, connecting the work to the architecture of the site, the Mediterranean landscape, and a deeply symbolic date in American history.

There is a Safe Place to Land
Erin LeAnn Mitchell, 2026

✨ Infinite Ensemble
Kaitlyn Tucek, 2026
What if an image had no center, no beginning, and no end?
In Infinite Ensemble, Kaitlyn Tucek brings together multiple spaces, forms, and points of focus within a single composition. Perspectives intersect and overlap, inviting us to let go of a single path through the image.
The work continues the research developed during the artist’s 2023 residency at La Napoule, exploring multiple compositions and non-Western perspectives.

✨ Constellations of Home
Erin LeAnn Mitchell, 2026
A monumental skirt gently surrounds the fountain, turning a garment into architecture.
Installed at the heart of the courtyard, Constellations of Home transforms an architectural element into a soft, monumental textile presence.
A piece of clothing, usually connected to the individual body, shifts in scale here: it embraces, gathers and inhabits the space. The fountain almost becomes a body, a place around which something takes shape.
And within the courtyard, the artworks begin to speak to one another: Erin LeAnn Mitchell’s installation resonates with Kaitlyn Tucek’s Château Eyes banners, creating a new dialogue around architecture.

✨ Constellations of Home
Erin LeAnn Mitchell, 2026
