Join us at Artless Gallery & English Bookstore for an evening with Shamus Award-winning writer and musician Tom Andes as he presents his book Guess This Is Kaput.

In Guess This Is Kaput, characters are forced to grow, sometimes evolving and redeeming themselves through love, and sometimes failing to evolve in spectacular fashion. Trapped by family, by lovers past and present, and by their own flawed ideas of who they are, the characters in these stories struggle to achieve sometimes dubious ideas of freedom.

Tom Andes is also the author of the detective novel Wait There Till You Hear from Me (Crescent City Books 2025). He lives in Albuquerque, where he is a working musician.

A playful, bilingual workshop exploring creative writing, poetry and mise en voix — writing, experimenting, and bringing words to life through the voice. Come write, play, listen, experiment — and give your words a voice.

SWEET TOUT DE SUITE is a four-word poem by Franco-British artist Melanie Kenyon, whose multidisciplinary practice brings together ceramics, collage, drawing, painting, writing and reading-performance. Born in London, Melanie has lived and worked in France for many years and has been based in Marseille since 2013. She also teaches at the École Supérieure d’Art et Design Grenoble-Valence (ESAD-GV).

🌿 Write in English, French, or move between both. 🎙️ Want to share? Participants can take what they’ve written to the Open Mic Night later that same day — entirely optional!

Join us for the opening of Elsa Devèze and Barbara Sanches’ exhibition at Artless Gallery & English Bookstore!

Through her work, Elsa Devèze explores the chaos of natural elements, pushing them towards abstraction while traversing eremes at the threshold of the fantastical (ereme: a space preserved from human alteration or occupation).

Barbara Sanches is a Brazilian painter based in Marseille, exploring realism on different materials. In this exhibition, she revisits pieces that took years to see the light of day, reconnecting and reinterpreting the feelings that first brought them to life.

À travers son travail, Elsa Devèze explore le chaos des éléments naturels jusqu’à l’abstraction et arpenter les érèmes à la frontière du fantastique (érème : espace préservé de toute modification ou occupation humaine).

Barbara Sanches est une peintre brésilienne installée à Marseille qui explore le réalisme sur différents supports. Dans cette exposition, elle revisite des œuvres dont la création s’est étalée sur plusieurs années, renouant ainsi avec les émotions qui leur ont donné naissance et les réinterprétant.

🎶 Concert - Jiji 🎶

Before being a musician, JiJi is a multimedia artist. Her songs are originally some poems she gathers in self-edited fanzines. Through a need to share her words more directly and sensibly, she borrows her roommates’ guitar, strums a bit, and tries her hand at singing. It’s never polish, perfect, not all the time melodious, but it’s sincere. Inspired by the “spoken word” movement and the anti-folk musical genre, her songs are an invitation to experience vulnerability as something beautiful, powerful and exhilarating.

Avant d’être musicienne, JiJi est une artiste multi-formes. Ses textes sont à l’origine des poèmes rassemblés dans des fanzines qu’elle auto-édite. Par envie de transmettre plus sensiblement et plus directement ses mots, elle pique la guitare de sa coloc, elle gratte un peu et s’essaie au chant. C’est jamais propre, parfait ou mélodieux, mais c’est sincère. Inspirée par le “spoken word” et l’anti-folk, ses chansons sont une invitation à ressentir sa vulnérabilité comme une chose belle, forte et enivrante.
