Double V is delighted to have presented Maximilien Pellet’s first solo show in the United States on the occasion of Independent New York 2026.

We would like to warmly thank the entire Independent team for their welcome and organization: Elizabeth Dee, David Ulrich, Alexandra Alexopoulou, Kyle Penner, as well as the entire fair team.

This first participation at Pier 36 — Lower East Side generated a wonderful response and great enthusiasm from the visitors, collectors, and professionals we met throughout the week.

A special thank you as well to Brook S. Mason for his review of our booth and for mentioning the gallery in his article on the New York fairs for Le Quotidien de l’Art.

Pour sa première participation à Independent New York, Double V Gallery présente un nouveau corpus d’œuvres de Maximilien Pellet.

À travers une nouvelle série de tableaux en faïence, l’artiste travaille la surface comme matière à incision : profils, aplats de couleur, effets de texture, figures d’autorité et bestiaire d’oiseaux composent un petit théâtre où procès, métamorphose et cosmogonie se croisent.

For its first participation in Independent New York, Double V Gallery presents a new body of works by Maximilien Pellet.

Through a new series of earthenware paintings, the artist treats the surface as a site of incision: profiles, flat areas of color, textural effects, figures of authority, and a bestiary of birds compose a small theatre where trial, metamorphosis, and cosmogony meet.

Pour sa première participation à Independent New York, Double V Gallery est heureuse de présenter un nouveau corpus d’œuvres de Maximilien Pellet.

Conçu spécialement pour la foire, ce projet réunit une nouvelle série de tableaux en faïence gravés directement dans la matière. Entre ocres nuancés et bleus nuit, des profils, figures d’autorité, oiseaux anthropomorphes et personnages théâtraux émergent par incision, aplats de couleur et jeux de texture.

À travers ces compositions entre fresque, puzzle et décor de théâtre, Maximilien Pellet poursuit son exploration de la représentation, du décor et des récits collectifs. Nourri par l’imagerie médiévale, les arts décoratifs et les jeux de rôle, son univers fait dialoguer figures archaïques et sensibilités contemporaines.

For its first participation in Independent New York, Double V Gallery is pleased to present a new body of works by Maximilien Pellet.

Conceived especially for the fair, the presentation brings together a new series of earthenware paintings etched directly into the material. Through nuanced ochres and midnight blues, profiles, judicial figures, anthropomorphic birds, and theatrical characters emerge through incision, flat areas of color, and textured surfaces.

Oscillating between fresco, puzzle, and stage set, Maximilien Pellet’s work continues his exploration of representation, ornament, and collective storytelling. Nourished by medieval imagery, decorative arts, and role-playing games, his universe brings together archaic figures and contemporary sensibilities.

Pour Independent, l’artiste présente une nouvelle série de tableaux en faïence gravés et émaillés, peuplés de figures judiciaires, d’oiseaux anthropomorphes et de silhouettes ambiguës. Entre procès imaginaire et cosmogonie ancestrale, ces personnages deviennent les acteurs d’un théâtre symbolique où les frontières entre pouvoir, rituel et fiction se dissolvent.

Born in 1991 in Paris, Maximilien Pellet develops a body of work situated at the intersection of painting, ceramics, architecture and decorative arts.

For Independent, the artist presents a new body of earthenware paintings combining engraved lines, enamel surfaces, judicial figures, anthropomorphic birds, and ambiguous silhouettes. Somewhere between imaginary trial and ancestral cosmogony, these characters become actors in a symbolic theatre where power, ritual, and fiction begin to dissolve.

Dans ce nouveau corpus, B.D. Graft affirme une forme d’optimisme lucide, presque radical.

L’essaim d’abeilles, motif central, devient une image du mouvement collectif : dense, en expansion, tourné vers l’avant.

Entre fleurs saturées, figures en circulation et natures mortes chargées de références, son univers mêle Histoire de l’art et intime. Où le quotidien devient un point d’équilibre dans un monde instable.

Issu du collage, son travail repose sur des logiques de recomposition, de déplacement, d’assemblage. Peinture, crayon, céramique… Peu importe le médium, le langage est là. Vibrant, généreux, vivant.

The swarm of bees, a central motif, becomes an image of collective movement, dense, expanding, and forward-looking.
Between saturated flowers, circulating figures, and still lifes rich in references, his universe brings together art history and the intimate, where the everyday becomes a point of balance in an unstable world.
Rooted in collage, his work relies on processes of recomposition, displacement, and assembly. Painting, drawing, ceramics, whatever the medium, the language is there. Vibrant, generous, alive.

L’air des cadences

À Marseille, Arsène Welkin dévoile une nouvelle série où la peinture devient un espace traversé par le rythme, les corps et l’abandon de soi. Figures en tension ou en suspension, gestes habités, regards intenses : la musique s’y fait matière visible, insufflant à chaque scène une vitalité profonde.

Lorsque le territoire devient incertain, la musique agit ici comme un ancrage. Les mouvements se libèrent, échappent à la maîtrise, et deviennent une nécessité — une manière d’habiter le monde autrement, entre présence physique et échappée intérieure.

Nourrie par son environnement quotidien, sa peinture mêle figures familières, traditions, introspection et imaginaire, dans une atmosphère vibrante où chaque corps semble porté par une cadence invisible.

When territory becomes uncertain, music acts here as an anchor. Movements unfold freely, escaping control, and emerge as a necessity — a way of inhabiting the world differently, between physical presence and inner release.

Drawing from daily life, his painting weaves together familiar figures, traditions, introspection, and imagination, creating a vibrant atmosphere where every body seems carried by an invisible cadence.

From April 8 to 12, we invite you to visit us at booth E5 to discover a presentation drawn from his recent exhibition at the Abbaye Royale de Fontevraud.

Alongside the fair, the gallery unveils a showroom specially conceived for the occasion, bringing together works by Renske Linders, B.D. Graft, Arsène Welkin, Manoela Medeiros, Elvire Bonduelle, Maty Biayenda, Camille Chestang, Alice Guittard, and Pace Taylor.

Conceived as an extension of the booth, the showroom creates a dialogue between practices. Moving through intimate scenes, diverted everyday objects, symbolic narratives, and investigations into memory, the space unfolds as a sensitive journey through the different voices represented by the gallery.

À l’occasion d’Art Paris 2026, Double V Gallery présente “Maistre Deü Jeu”, une restitution de la récente exposition de Maximilien Pellet à l’Abbaye Royale de Fontevraud.

Conçu spécialement pour la foire, le stand réunit sculptures, bas-reliefs et personnages en céramique qui composent une mythologie médiéviste inspirée de Fontevraud, entre anecdotes historiques, légendes et spéculations. Comme une communauté silencieuse, ces figures énigmatiques invitent le visiteur à recomposer un récit fragmenté, entre quête, théâtre et arts funéraires.

À travers ce projet, Maximilien Pellet prolonge sa réflexion sur l’histoire de la représentation, le décor et le récit, en hommage aux jeux, bandes dessinées et imaginaires médiévistes qui ont nourri son enfance.

Specially conceived for the fair, the booth brings together sculptures, bas-reliefs, and ceramic figures that form a medievalist mythology inspired by Fontevraud, blending historical anecdotes, legends, and speculation. Like a silent community, these enigmatic characters invite visitors to reconstruct a fragmented narrative shaped by quest, theatricality, and funerary arts.

Through this project, Maximilien Pellet extends his reflection on the history of representation, décor, and storytelling, paying tribute to the games, comics, and medieval imaginaries that shaped his childhood.
