We’re back at the gallery, and you have one week left to come and discover the exhibition, Japonism: a French storytelling.
New works by Odu and Nelly Saunier are on display.
Take the time to come !
And to start the week, let’s dive into the materiality of Odu’s works with this newly hung wall sculpture.

« It would be difficult to overstate my surprise and amazement on encountering the work of Nadège Desgenétez, [which] combined sensuous, consummately crafted forms with a probing investigation of feminist iconography. Most impressively, she uses the materiality of glass itself to suggestive effect.
Her sculptures reflect light when polished, but capture and internalize light when sand blasted, creating the impression of varying states of mind, extroverted and introverted, and of contrasting states of the body as well, subjective and objectified. It is an entrancing and sophisticated body of work. » Glenn Adamson

Michal Fargo has created four new ceramics especially for this occasion. You can discover her intriguing works at our stand C04.
“In my work I deal with the thin line that lies between imitation and interpretation. I try to capture an innate longing to authentic nature and at the same time celebrate progress and its many benefits; maybe combine both aesthetics into one.
I intend to challenge the physical state of the matters, such as solid liquid and gas, and represent another dimension, a sensual being, unrecognisable, and foreign being.”

The historical design pieces from the archives of the gallery, those from the first gallery of the founder of Mouvements Modernes, Pierre Staudenmeyer, who co-founded the cult Néotù gallery with Gérard Dalmon in 1984, will be in the spotlight ! The work of the famous American designer Dan Friedman will be highlighted with iconic pieces. Here with his graphic and feminine Néotable perched on its little stiletto heels.

You could discover some of Sam Baron’s eternal flowers on our booth C04. The designer uses the ancestral skills of Venetian glassmaking to question and update two traditions: that of medicinal flowers, as healing as they are dangerous, used since the dawn of time, and that of French bridal bouquets under glass domes, used from the second half of the 19th century until the eve of WW II. Sam Baron’s languidly threatening flowers are liberated to become delicate sculptures.

On this occasion, the gallery is pleased to present this year a collection of works by Mathias Kiss. He takes the opposite approach to references. His opposition to the codes of decorative arts does not make a clean break with the past, but draws on it to better subvert it and create a new aesthetic combining fantasy and poetry.

We’ll be happy to reveal new sculptures by the Danish ceramicist Turi Heisselberg Pedersen.
Turi develops an approach based on fragmented and recomposed nature, objects that reveal the geometric structures complying with natural laws, the lines and trajectories that plants follow in their development, in the phases of growth, according to invisible and eternal harmonic relationships.

Fabien Petiot’s Pli lamp is undoubtedly the piece where French and Japanese cultures come together most strongly. Indeed, the designer has seamlessly integrated French decorative arts with his use of multiple materials, so popular a century ago, and his evocation of Diego Giacometti with his work in plaster, while the use of bamboo and paper lampshades—a nod to Noguchi—transport us to the Land of the Rising Sun.

All the poetry of the art of Ikebana in this work by feather artist Nelly Saunier, Prémices du printemps (First Signs of Spring).
Under the delicate precision of the artist’s hands, nature is transformed, feathers become butterflies, and butterflies become leaves again, offering us this contemplative work of beauty.

We are pleased to announce that the exhibition Japonism: a French Storytelling has been extended until mid-December.
The art of embellishing the vagaries of time known as Kintsugi is reinterpreted by designer Thomas Lemut in these Olympia nesting tables, whose faience tops feature an enlarged reproduction of the cracks in the paint on the chest of Edouard Manet’s Olympia.

The showroom welcomes you tomorrow afternoon in the presence of painter Aurélie Galois.
For the current exhibition Japonism a French Storytelling, the artist has created six Kubi no Ke, Japanese portraits of the nape of the neck, a part of the body considered in Japanese culture to be a subtle and refined point of beauty.

Aurélie Galois and the gallery team look forward to seeing you tomorrow from 2pm to 6pm, far from the hustle and bustle of Paris Art Week, in their showroom at the bottom of the Jardin du Palais Royal.
