Sir Cecil Beaton wrote about Her Imperial Highness Dürrüşehvar Sultan, the Princess of the Imperial House of Osman and of Berar: « With turquoise-coloured eyes, dark auburn hair, dazzling white skin, and a marvellous high-bridged nose, the exceptionally tall Princess of Berar is of striking beauty. Dressed in a sari (each one that she has is more magnificent than the others) and an astonishing display of jewels, she looks sensational. She elects to avoid the public gaze. So retiring by nature is she that she manages to preserve her essence for the special benefit of her family, her relations, and her friends, for the Princess possesses a rare appreciation of the individual and the personal. Her father, a direct descendant of Suleiman the Conqueror, was not only a great exponent of the art of calligraphy but also a painter, musician, and gardener of exceptional talents. His daughter has inherited his many interests. »

🌍 In Memory of Sebastião Salgado (1944–2025)📸

The world has lost a true visionary. Sebastião Salgado’s powerful black-and-white photographs captured the raw beauty, dignity, and struggles of humanity — from the intense labor of the Serra Pelada gold mines to the majestic heart of the Amazon.

His lens didn’t just document; it moved people to see, to feel, and to act — whether for social justice, human rights, or the environmental restoration he championed with his wife Lélia through Instituto Terra.

Thank you for showing us the world through your compassionate eyes, maestro. Your legacy will continue to inspire generations.

Flor Garduño is one of Mexico’s leading photographers, whose work is inspired by the people, landscape, literature and art of her native country. Deeply touched by the difficulties faced by the country’s indigenous peoples, Garduño’s work often references traditional Mexican life, iconography and folklore.
