📢UPCOMING │Venice │Sesse Elangwe: “The Road”, Opening July 9, 2026.

193 Gallery is delighted to present The Road, Sesse Elangwe’s first solo exhibition in Venice, on view from July 9 to September 12.

“The Road” explores the journey of life through the metaphor of the road, an ever-changing space shaped by movement, encounters, uncertainty, and transformation. Like life itself, the road unfolds through challenges and moments of joy, through pauses and progress, through destinations reached and paths still waiting to be discovered.

Through this new body of work, Sesse Elangwe invites viewers to reflect on their own journeys and the experiences that have shaped them. “The Road” becomes a meditation on the shared human experience, suggesting that while each path is unique, we are all travellers carrying memories, hopes, and stories that connect us to one another. In this perspective, meaning is found not only in the destination, but in the journey itself.

Join us on Thursday, July 9, from 6 PM to 8 PM, to celebrate the opening of the show.

We’re thrilled to feature the work of Haonan He ( ) in the group exhibition “Utopi·e”, opening on July 4th in our Paris gallery.

Haonan HE is an artist and researcher, born and raised in Yunnan Province, China, and currently based in Paris. Through immersive installations, experimental cartographies, video, and writing, his work examines how psychoactive plants, plant-based drugs, and technical systems shape regimes of perception, governance, and violence.

His work has been presented internationally, including at MAC Lyon (2023), the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris (2024), Tropiques Atrium, Martinique (2025), the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles, Paris (2025), and the GMS Festival, Thailand (2025). He has been selected for several programmes, including Culture d’avenir (Centre Pompidou, CCCB, HKW, 2022–23), In Situ (Cité Internationale des Arts, 2023–24), WHW Akademija (Croatia, 2024), GMS Residency (Thailand, 2025), Tropical Papers (2025), One Way Street Foundation (China, 2025), and R.A.R.O. Bogotá (Colombia, 2026). He is a recipient of the Prix Flair (Studio Flair, Paris, 2024) and the Prix Utopi·e, edition #4 (Paris, 2025).

We’re delighted to share views of Hassan Hajjaj’s works currently on view as part of the exhibition “Africa Fashion” at Musee du Quai Branly, Paris.

After captivating audiences in London, New York, Portland, Chicago, Melbourne, and Montreal, the « Africa Fashion » exhibition, developed by London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, arrives in Paris.

Bringing together some of the most influential contemporary African artists and fashion designers and the remarkable historical collections of the Musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac, the exhibition creates a rich dialogue between past and present, heritage and innovation.

From March 21th to July 12th the exhibition takes the visitor on an enthralling journey that celebrates the rapid growth of the African scene, driven by a new generation of daring designers. Blending traditional crafts and stylistic innovation, their creations depict a pluralist, connected Africa, proud of its roots and focused on the future.

We’re happy to feature the work of Léna Fillet ( ) in the group exhibition “Utopi·e”, at 193 Gallery Paris.

Léna Fillet (b. 1993, Marseille) is a visual artist whose practice unfolds through sculpture, drawing, writing and performance. Trained at École des Beaux-Arts de Marseille, HEAD – Geneva, and UQAM in Montréal, she develops a q***r artistic language that explores assemblage, the poetic, and artifice in their capacities for agency and energetic impulses. Shaped by her le***an and feminist experiences, her work engages with pleasure as a sensitive and political field, where softness becomes a tool of resistance. 

She is a member of Atelier Hyph in Marseille and has exhibited in institutions and spaces including CAC La Ferme du Buisson (Noisiel), the Centre Photographique de Marseille, and the Collection Yvon Lambert (Avignon), among others. Her work has been supported by several grants and residencies, including the Région Île-de-France residency at La Ferme du Buisson, the DRAC PACA “Rouvrir le monde” programme (2021–2023), and the Seine-Saint-Denis cultural education grant (2019–2020). She is the recipient of the Utopi·e Prize (2025), the Polyptyque Prize (2019), and the Yvon Lambert Prize for emerging creation (2016), and her work is held in private collections as well as in the Collection Yvon Lambert.

As we enter the final days of Hyangmok Baik's exhibition, Have You Ever Fallen in Love?, we are delighted to invite you to a special late opening for the Nocturne des Galeries du Haut-Marais, tomorrow, Thursday, June 11, until 9 pm.

This new edition celebrates the collective energy of the Haut-Marais, inviting visitors to explore a diverse programme of exhibitions through a unique itinerary at the heart of the neighborhood.

Join us for an evening of art and conversation as we celebrate the closing days of Have You Ever Fallen in Love?, before continuing your visit through the galleries of the Haut-Marais.

Hyangmok Baik's solo exhibition remains on view until June 13, and one of his works will also be featured in our upcoming group exhibition, Utopi.e, opening July 4.

We’re delighted to present the work of the artist duo Laura Bottereau & Marine Fiquet (.fiquet ) in our upcoming exhibition “Utopi·e”, at 193 Gallery Paris.

Born respectively in Saumur in 1989 and Rosny-sous-Bois in 1990, Laura Bottereau and Marine Fiquet are a visual artist duo based in Nantes, France, who have been working collaboratively under the name Bottereau & Fiquet since 2013.

Combining installation, image, and text, their protean practice constructs corporeal fictions made of simulacra, probing the living—almost, but never quite. At once gentle and cruel, their staged environments open up shifting spaces of projection. The presences inhabiting their works embody transitional states—mutating or in flux—troubling perceptions of gaze, gender, and age. 

Their work has been exhibited in several art centers in France, including MAC VAL – Musée d’Art contemporain du Val-de-Marne, Transpalette – CAC Bourges, Le Lieu Unique – Scène nationale de Nantes, Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles, Paris and Magasins Généraux, Pantin. More recently, their practice has entered the collections of FRAC des Pays de la Loire, Les Abattoirs, Musée – FRAC Occitanie Toulouse, and FRAC Occitanie Montpellier. 

Bottereau & Fiquet are currently presenting their solo exhibition, Là où les organes oragent, at CCC OD in Tours (on view until November 1, 2026). From June 25, their work will also be featured in the group exhibition Simulacres at Magasins Généraux in Pantin.

✨We’re thrilled to begin introducing the laureates of the 4th Utopi·e Prize featured in the upcoming exhibition at our Paris gallery from July 4th, starting with Priscilla Benyahia (.beny).

Priscilla Benyahia (born in 1999) is a Franco-Algerian artist based in Paris. A graduate of Villa Arson in 2023, she develops artistic work that intersects installation, sculpture, image, and publishing. Her practice evolves through her fascination with archives and language as sites of resistance, which translates into images and objects. She interrogates the space that separates the literal from irony and wordplay, creating shifts in meaning that enable the deconstruction of dominant narratives. 

Her work has been presented in a solo show in the Centre Civic Can Felipa (Barcelona) and in various group exhibitions, notably in Paris (Grande halle de la Villette, Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles, The Window), Nice (Centre d’art of Villa Arson), Barcelona (200CENT), and Leipzig (Plast Space). She also is the laureate of Prix Utopi.e 2025 and recently participated in residency programs like Onassis AiR, Athens, Entorns, Spain or La Villa Belleville in Paris.

📢 𝗨𝗣𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗚⎮𝟭𝟵𝟯 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀⎮𝙐𝙩𝙤𝙥𝙞·𝙚 ⎮𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟰𝘁𝗵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

Utopi·e is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting gender equality in the visual and performing arts. Through exhibitions, public programmes, and research-based initiatives, it supports LGBTQIA+ artists whose practices engage with questions of inclusion, embodied experience, and respect for difference.

Each year, the Utopi·e Prize awards ten artists from LGBTQIA+ scenes, highlighting emerging practices engaging with contemporary social issues. For its fourth edition, the ten laureates—including nine individual artists and one artist duo—were brought together in an exhibition at the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles in October 2025, developed around the idea of tenderness as a gesture of insubordination: not as the opposite of violence, but as another way of responding to it through affect, friction, intimacy, and dissidence.

Following this first presentation, the laureates of the 4th Utopi·e Prize will be exhibited at 193 Gallery in Paris in July 2026, alongside five artists represented by the gallery, and one invited artist, whose practices similarly explore gender, identity, and self-representation.

As "Have You Ever Fallen in Love?" enters its final weeks, we revisit "Burst or Bloom", one of the works featured in Hyangmok Baik’s solo exhibition, through the artist’s own words:

"This painting inhabits a space of ambiguity, capturing a moment suspended between blossoming and rupture, tenderness and pain. The figures appear tense, as though they have just witnessed an event unfold before them. They stand as silent observers, yet the nature of what has occurred remains uncertain. Has something tragic taken place? Or have they witnessed the moment of falling in love?

By refusing a clear answer, the work draws attention to the uneasy proximity between these experiences. Love often arrives in its most radiant form, yet it carries within it the potential for profound vulnerability and loss."

We are delighted to share some views of Hyacinthe Ouattara’s work at Fondation H as part of the exhibition “Kabarin-javakanto : une lecture de la Collection Fondation H”. For the occasion Fondation H invites curator Abdellah Karroum to present an original interpretation of their collection bringing together works by artists primarily from the African continent, the collection forges historical, cultural, and political dialogues with Madagascar, Africa, and the wider world.

In Hyacinthe Ouattera’s pictorial work the uses of balance and imbalance as visual metaphors, and often drawing on spiritual and ritual traditions. You can see this in his indigo painting series, “The Heartbeats of the Earth”, where works were buried in the soil of his home village of Diébougou—turning the act of creation into a rite of return.

Fondation H operates programs dedicated to supporting artists from Africa and its diasporas in their careers, facilitates public access to art, and actively participates in the development and structuring of the art scene in the Indian Ocean.
