Until 22 November, at our Venice gallery is on view 'The Materiality of Judy Chicago', a solo show by American artist Judy Chicago, a pioneering figure for feminist art and feminist art education since the 1970s.
_
Throughout her career, Judy Chicago has consistently valued, elevated, and employed materials and techniques traditionally associated with 'craft'. A significant example is her 1980s series the 'Birth Project', a body of work comprising more than eighty artworks. Primarily executed in textile, the series uses embroidery, quilting, and other needlework techniques as forms of artistic and political resistance. Its central focus is the reproductive power of the female body and the often invisible labor surrounding pregnancy and childbirth.

Today marks the opening of 'The Avebury Papers', a duo show by artists Gayle Chong Kwan and Kialy Tihngang, at Southampton City Art Gallery in Southampton, UK, on view until 17 October 2026.

'The Avebury Papers' presents artist responses to the Avebury archive commissioned by the Avebury Papers project.
For this exhibition, Gayle Chong Kwan created 'Oneiric Archaeologies', an installation incorporating sound, tactile wearable sculptures, ritual and social dreaming to explore the collective reshaping, reuse and understanding of Avebury’s Neolithic landscape.

Ivan Moudov's works, 'Brieftopka' (2026) and 'Dandelion' (2026), are part of the group show 'Brieftopia: Art Between Crisis and Imagination', on view at the Museum of Humour and Satire in Gabrovo, Bulgaria, until 30 June.

In the video 'Brieftopka', Ivan Moudov recites the exhibition’s curatorial text using a 'Gabrovo accent'. By reversing the conventional practice of accent correction, the artist deliberately adopts local linguistic characteristics, humorously shifting the authority of the institutional voice

Curated by Snejana Krasteva and Behzad K. Noori, the exhibition is the first international laboratory in preparation for the upcoming 26th edition of the Gabrovo Biennial of Humour and Satire in Art (2029). The group show explores how art can help us imagine possible futures in times of uncertainty.

Italian-Austrian artist Esther Stocker is currently presenting her solo exhibition 'Atlas' at Castel Tirolo in Bolzano, Italy, until 8 November 2026.
_
Curated by Heinrich Schwazer, this exhibition features several works by Esther Stocker, including a life-size installation, 'Atlas', created specifically for the space. Atlas, the Titan of Greek mythology who defied the Olympian gods, was condemned by Zeus to carry the celestial vault on his shoulders for eternity. The Atlas sculpture is covered with a grid that acts like a corset and evokes geographical coordinates. The camouflage effect blurs the perception of both the surface and the body.

Italian artist Christian Fogarolli is part of the group show ‘Croire et guérir. Et délivrez-nous du mal’, opening tomorrow at Musée d'art et d'histoire Paul-Eluard, in Saint-Denis, Paris. Recognized as a project of national interest by the French Ministry of Culture, the exhibition brings together over 280 historical objects, from ancient apothecary jars to protective talismans, to examine the thin line between official science, religion, and magic from the Middle Ages to today.

Fogarolli connects the medical heritage of the past with the conceptual art of the present. Operating at the intersection of contemporary art, medical history, and anthropology, artist explores how humanity has historically rationalized and treated bodily and mental ailments, balancing between rigorous science and mystical beliefs.

British artist Gayle Chong Kwan presents 'The Lotus Eaters' (2026) as part of the group exhibition 'Penelope: Her Journeys' at Fondation Valmont, on view until 31 January 2027.
French artist Marie Denis presents 'La Forêt des Rouleaux – Divination' at the Collateral Pavilion of the Republic of Tanzania, on view until 22 November 2026.

With 'The Lotus Eaters', Gayle Chong Kwan unfolds an immersive installation combining textiles, sculpture, procession, and virtual reality. Activated through live performance, the work transforms domestic materials into ritual objects while exploring memory, resistance, and the politics of space.
'La Forêt des Rouleaux – Divination' is composed of glass tubes, printed elements, copper forms, and an oriental cabinet, creating a symbolic environment where botanical motifs become a unifying thread between materiality and imagination.
