D-7 AKAA 10th edition

Discover from October 24 to 26 - Booth A6 -
A selection of works by artists:
Seyni Awa Camara, Armin Kane, Soly Cissé, and Alassane Koné.

For the 10th edition of AKAA, Alassane Koné unveils his ”Textile Sculptures”, composed of threads glued and assembled on a single plane, as if cut with scissors. Presented on the wall, these light forms can also be displayed in space, allowing their full materiality to be appreciated.
By abolishing the boundary between plastic and pictorial art, the artist confronts the apparent fragility of thread with the density of a three-dimensional sculpture, pushing the limits of his medium.

The ”Textile Sculptures”, which simulate volume while rehabilitating flatness, recall the return to the plane of contemporary sculptors such as Calder’s light, suspended cutouts.
Alassane Koné reaffirms the enduring and innovative role of textiles in contemporary art.

At Akaa 2025, discover Alassane Koné’s « Textile Sculptures » and mini-formats
from October 24 to 26 - Stand A6 - with artists:
Seyni Awa Camara, Armin Kane, and Soly Cissé

Alassane Koné explores thread as an artistic medium in its own right, weaving cotton fiber as if mixing colors on a canvas.

The mini-formats, “pocket paintings,” reminiscent of those in the micro-Salons organized by the Iris Clert gallery between 1957 and 1980, are treated with the same rigor and care that the artist brings to his large compositions measuring nearly 2 meters.

Alassane Koné explores thread as an artistic medium in its own right, weaving cotton fiber as if mixing colors on a canvas. The artist unveils his silhouette sculptures made of thread and glue, assembled in a single plane, as if cut with scissors. By breaking down the boundaries between plastic and pictorial art, the artist contrasts the apparent fragility of thread with the density of sculpture, pushing the limits of his medium and redefining the enduring role of textiles in contemporary art.

Starting Sunday is set to return for its 11th edition from October 19 to 25, 2025, kicking off the Art Week in the galleries, as organized by the Professional Committee of Art Galleries.

Ahead of his involvement in a group exhibition at the CBH in Geneva: “Au delà des Apparences ”, Soly Cissé will present a work from hi “Big-Bang Intemporels” series at the gallery. They question the origin of man, evoking the power of the mysteries of a bygone era.

We are thrilled to announce our participation in AKAA 2025, the international fair for contemporary African art and its diaspora, held in Paris. Visit us at stand A6 to discover the works of Seyni Awa Camara, Armin Kane, Soly Cissé, and Alassane Koné.

Seyni Awa Camara, Casamance, Senegal
Far from being limited to artisanal or utilitarian production, S.A. Camara’s clay figures are deeply rooted in his environment, weaving an intimate link between the everyday and the spiritual. Each sculpture is born from a process guided by an inner, ritualistic necessity. The artist draws on animist tradition, embodying a living spirituality nourished by local culture, far beyond any notion of « production, » but rather as a receptacle of spirituality.

Seyni Awa Camara, Soly Cissé, Alassane Kone, Armin Kane

On the occasion of the 10th edition of AKAA, the gallery will present a body of work by Armin KANE (1965, Dakar).

Reflecting his unconventional approach to materials, Armin Kane favors unconventional media such as recycled clothing, which he transforms into patchworks. In a visual language shaped by abstraction, materials and colors interact with letters and numbers sewn with dense lines of thread that seem to speak their own language. Like Paul Klee, he explores the plastic dimension of letter for compositions made of “patches” reassembled in a “DIY spirit.” His motifs, often organized according to mathematical logic, question collective memory as much as they resonate with urban dynamics, particularly the labyrinthine structure of the Medina, the Dakar neighborhood where the artist is a major figure.
