Inside the Parisian home of photographed for Issue Ten, The Icon Issue.

A collector, retailer, and one of Europe’s most refined contemporary tastemakers, De Bayser has built a world around the quiet authority of the eye.

His sensibility moves fluently between fashion, art, and historic design, with a particular affinity for mid-century masters such as Jean Prouvé, Jean Royère, Georges Jouve, Charlotte Perriand, and the Lalannes.

What makes his interiors compelling is not simply the calibre of the objects, but the intelligence of their placement. Nothing feels staged for effect.

A particular kind of Parisian elegance, not decorative, but edited, tactile, and lived with. A home shaped by someone who understands that taste is not accumulation, but selection.

A remarkable selection from his collection, works by Georges Jouve, Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand, Jean Royère, François-Xavier Lalanne, Alberto Giacometti, Anish Kapoor, and Günther Förg, is coming to auction at , on view in New York June 5 through 9 ahead of the live sale.

The best hotels (boutique to palace) stopped competing on thread count. They compete on what’s on the wall. And it’s not just the palaces : 4/5-star and lifestyle houses are using art to charge more, get photographed, and bring guests back.

A Parisian interior by Valérie Rostaing reminds us of a principle we hold at AP Art Advisory: a collection is not merely owned, it is composed.

Here, every name on the wall and on the floor earns its place.

The artists.

Lucio Fontana, his slashed canvas, the taglio, turned a gesture of rupture into one of the defining acts of post-war art; the perfect counterpoint to a refined room.

Antony Gormley, the British sculptor whose work returns endlessly to the human body as a measure of space.

Auguste Rodin, the father of modern sculpture, here lending timeless gravitas to a contemporary setting.

Pablo Picasso, needing no introduction, the century’s pivot point between tradition and rupture.

Lee Bae, the Korean artist who works in charcoal, bridging Eastern materiality and Western abstraction.

Gabriel Klasmer, the Israeli painter known for his gestural, layered compositions.

Christophe Charbonnel, the French sculptor whose monumental bronzes draw on myth and the classical figure.

Andy Warhol, and his Double Elvis (1963), the silkscreen that fixed celebrity itself as a Pop icon.

The design.

Jean Royère, the legendary French decorator whose Ours Polaire (Polar Bear) armchairs are among the most coveted forms of 20th-century design.

Ado Chale, the Belgian master whose sculptural tables embed stone and metal into surfaces of extraordinary depth.

Christian Liaigre, the French designer who defined a quiet, architectural luxury copied the world over.

Éric Schmitt, contemporary French designer of sculptural, almost archaic furniture.

Hervé Van der Straeten, the Parisian designer-jeweller turned furniture-maker, prized for his gilded bronze.

Gilles & Boissier, the duo behind some of the most distinctive interiors and objects in luxury today.

Selected highlights from the rooms / Christie’s reaffirms the city’s standing as the global epicentre of 20th-century design, where postwar masters and contemporary makers continue to define the canon.

A market that rewards rigour over trend.

432 Park Avenue. Fernanda Dovigi’s apartment stages museum-grade art against the Midtown skyline.

In the living room, Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Untitled (1982) sits alongside Empire (1983) and Unit Filter GE (1984), the latter made in collaboration with Andy Warhol.

Elsewhere, George Condo’s Conversations (2012) anchors the family room, while Richard Prince’s Untitled (Cowboy) (2016) brings a cinematic presence.

In the dining area, Raymond Pettibon’s No Title (Draw the Line) (2020). At the entrance, a quieter historical note, Claude Monet’s Paysage, bord de la Seine, près de Jeufosse (Eure) (1884).

A collection that spans a century and a half without breaking tone.
