On Saturday the 23rd of May at 2pm, we will be hosting our next hands on lecture! Traversing the Trenches will focus on what everyday life inside the trenches of The First World War was like, giving an insight into how The Gordon Highlanders fought, ate and maintained their morale during one of history's largest conflicts. Entry to the event is included with a tour of the Museum, or with a Donation!

Today, the 8th of May, marks VE Day, and 81 years since the end of The Second World War in Europe. The Gordon Highlanders were involved in several major events in the European Theatre, with The Regiment seeing action in the D-Day Landings, the invasion of Italy, and the closing phases of the War during Operation Veritable, just to name a few. We remember and celebrate everyone who selflessly and bravely fought for our future in the battlefields of Europe.
We have selected a number of images from our archives to help mark the occasion, including a photo of Private John Bruce, who was the 500,000th British soldier to be repatriated through France.

The Gordon Highlanders Museum is delighted to proudly display a new exhibition case dedicated to the career of Lieutenant General Sir Peter Graham KCB CBE (1937-2024). This new case covers a selection of Sir Peter's achievements, from his several impressive tours of duty with The Gordon Highlanders, to being the Governor of Edinburgh Castle, and then leading the campaign to open the wonderful Museum we have today. Visit and learn about one of The Regiment's most iconic figures.

Happy International Bagpipe Day! 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🎢
In our Pipe Majors' Hallway, you can find a portrait of Duncan Smith, Pipe Major, the 92nd Regiment from 1817-1828. Aside from his service at Waterloo and in the West Indies, Smith is often remembered for his tendency to play the pipes whilst wearing his shoes and hose on alternate feet!
You can learn about Smith and some of our other famous Pipe Majors here at the Museum πŸŽΌπŸ’‚
