The Nicole Porter Gallery The Nicole Porter Gallery opened in 2010 and is situated on King Street in Aberdeen. Opening hours are variable so please phone ahead of visiting.

The gallery showcases the work of award winning artist Nicole Porter and is home to her studio. Working in a representational style, Nicole takes commissions for both portrait and landscape, drawings and paintings. Many of her original works are on display including a series of limited edition giclee prints. In addition, Nicole provides art tuition from the studio for all levels of ability and age

“River of January” oil on canvas, framed size 84x64cm:
This painting holds deep personal significance for me, and given the weather today, it feels fitting to share it. I created it during a profoundly challenging time in my life - before my four children were born, after experiencing my first miscarriage. It was one of many heart-breaking moments in our long and difficult fertility journey.
The landscape seemed to mirror my feelings: frozen, barren, and still. Nothing was growing. Yet, amidst the stillness and sorrow, the sunrise offered a quiet sense of hope. The river, a timeless symbol of fertility and life, continued to flow, reminding me that the story wasn't over.
Thankfully, my journey eventually took a turn toward joy. When our first daughter was born, we named her Rio, which means "river" - a tribute to the resilience and renewal symbolised in this painting.
