Always forget how much I love just simply drawing and doodling.

Hopefully I’ll get time to start another collage painting soon but in the meantime it’s so much more accessible to grab a pen and paper. A wee 30 mins on this tonight and already my head feels clearer.

Collecting more references in Aberfoyle yesterday on one of the Gravelfoyle tracks (Aqueduct Loop).

Something special and calming being in amongst trees. Went early and had the track to myself up until the last 5k ❤️

Lots of loveliness this weekend ❤️

Got to steal these wee moments when you can. Life is a bit manic just now but just getting even a wee hour here and there does the power of good.

My latest collage piece.

I love all the textures working with collage. I’m adding a textured gesso base before I even get started and it’s working perfectly with what I’m trying to achieve.

I stayed a bit more thoughtful when placing the collage for the boat signage but other than that really focused on staying loose ❤️

Tried my first pottery class today and absolutely loved it. Straight onto the wheel throwing and it was as messy and satisfying as I thought it would be 🤣.

Can’t wait for next week to get this trimmed down. Planning on some sgraffito design for this as that was next on my list to try out.

Yet another new hobby to add to the list ❤️

I’ve been indulging in lots of new crafts over the past year or so and I’m absolutely loving making my own clothes - sewing, knitting & crochet. Made this beautiful dress last week which I’m over the moon with, and other pics are some of my favourite crochet / knit pieces so far. Currently working on my first lace knit pattern (last pic) and cannot wait to be wearing this ❤️

So many amazing patterns from talented designers on here

Pottery class up next! 😍

*Work In Progress* Trying to loosen up a bit more with this one and really make use of the collage underneath 😍

Taking inspo from the work of Mike Bernard who I have just discovered after delving into collage & mixed media. He adds in little seagulls to his work in coastal scenes in the way we would when drawing as a kid and I absolutely adore this! Such a core memory from childhood drawings & paintings ❤️

I love visiting book shops - it’s one of my favourite pastimes, and I LOVE buying older, used books. The smell and the feel of the pages is amazing 🤩

I always wonder who has owned them before me and has been flicking through the pages just as I have?

I’ve used this tan coloured one (published in the early 1950s) in my recent paintings, and it feels like I’m adding a wee bit of history into my work. Im also adding a little bit of other people I haven’t even met before. Felt a little bad to tear pieces from it (I’ve made sure it’s not valuable in monetary terms 🤣) but it’s getting a new lease of life in another art form 🥰

I couldn’t bring myself to use any of the others in this pile but this one should keep me going for a long time ❤️

Chatelherault Walks
30x40cm mixed media on linen panel

Loved getting back into this one after a couple of months off. Sometimes all you need is a wee spark to try something new. Caught the collage bug and loving adding a more crafty side to my artwork ❤️
