Heritage weekend has arrived. Roman Alcester Museum, the Town Hall, Church House are among the buildings open this weekend. Come and join us.
It appears that local animals often roamed Roman construction sites as we have prints not only from dogs but deer, cows and even a stoat! It is a surprise to think that we spend so much time thinking about the pasts of humans, that we forget the wildlife that has survived with us and there is proof in front of our very eyes!

A head and body of a life-size statue. This was found
built into the wall of a house in Alcester. What is the story there? Perhaps it is a god or in fact a political hero or figure.
Your guess is as good as ours, but it really is an incredible sight in real life!
All of the articles posted this week are the results of a DoE project.
Visit Roman Alcester this Saturday and Sunday open as part of Heritage Weekend.

Hundreds of brooches have been found in Alcester. Not only used as a tool of practicality, but they were also very fashionable. Perhaps in hundreds of years they will look back at our clothing with such fascination. But for now, come to Alcester museum to discover our collection of Roman accessories. Visit us on Heritage Open Weekend. Next weekend.
