Object of the Month!

Princess Mary's 1914 Christmas Gift Box, received by an AGS Instructor.

A brass gift box was distributed to British and Empire forces serving on all fronts during Christmas 1914. The box contained a variety of comforts such as to***co, chocolates, sweets, and letter writing materials.

Princess Mary envisioned the Christmas box as a 'gift of the nation' to service personnel serving overseas during the First Chistmas of the war, and gave her support to a public fund for the purchase of the boxes.
