Last week we conducted the first Wingfield and Oakerthorpe coal mining heritage walk of the year. The enjoyable tour is a circular walk starting at Wingfield Station and covers several hundred years of coal mining history in 2 hours. We stop at various historic sites where our knowledgeable tour guides will bring the history to life. You also get to enjoy some beautiful countryside and woodland. Public tour dates for the rest of the Summer are 18 June, 16 July, 20 August and 17 September. The June tour starts at 2pm. The others all start at 1.30pm. Hi everyone. This morning we saw the lovely spectacle of the Blue Pullman heading north past the station in glorious sunshine. The train started from Eastleigh near Southampton at 0539 and is heading for the seaside at Scarborough. The lucky passengers get 4 hours on the beach before heading back home in Pullman comfort.

Evening everyone. The station will be closed tomorrow, Bank Holiday Monday to allow all our fantastic volunteers to have the day off. Hope you all enjoy the Bank Holiday. Station will be back open on Wednesday at 10.

Morning everyone. Station is back open at 10 for a delicious selection of savouries, filled rolls, ice creams and cakes. We now offer a selection of pizza slices plus we have this amazing Guiness cake. The station will be closing at 3pm for today only. This is to enable us to set up an 80th birthday party for one of our fabulous volunteers tonight. #

Afternoon all. Quick update on events. Unfortunately, tomorrow's community event to build a cardboard model of Wingfield Station for display at Cromford Mill is postponed due to ill health. We apologise for this and will let you know the rearranged date in due course.

On Saturday a free Defibrillator and CPR training course is to be held at the Parish Rooms in South Wingfield. Organised by the WI, it starts at 10.00am.

The next community sowing workshops by Kayleigh of are going to be held on 19 July and 26 July at the station.They start at 10.00am, please book places on Evenbrite.

Finally Kayleigh will also be holding her last sowing workshop at the Grow Outside Garden, Ripley. The course starts at 10.00am on 31 July. Again please book places on Eventbrite.
