So last week was dramatic, he was unwell from Sunday, Friday we ended up in A&E!!! 5 days in Glangwili, with a virus with serious complications, not fun at 58 sleeping on a hospital floor. (Neither is being up all night in A&E). Rest and recuperation now, he still has a way to go.

I made mini bakewell tarts! I wasn’t sure they would work as I could only find recipes for a large one, these are made without wheat so are gluten free. However there are plenty of almonds in the frangipani. I used low sugar jam, I am thinking next time to make my own jam as Mary Berry suggests in her recipe.

I am struggling to post my makes and bakes when I can see how much people are starving and struggling in Gaza can this be your daily reminder to BOYCOTT! Choose one or two if you can’t do everything, McDonald’s, Coca Cola, Starbucks, AirBnB are a few examples but google PSC Boycott, Divest and Sanction. Free Palestine, Free Congo Free Sudan Remember none of us are free until Palestine is free to misquote Nelson Mandela!

I might have made Good luck brownies for this lot. Macsen recently joined the West Glamorgan Youth Theatre! This was the first production he was a part of and boy was it good. There was a studio piece that they had written themselves and a performance of, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. All such a high standard and put together in a couple of weekends and the half term week. It was amazing!

Middle son is 21! Happy New year! We might have had a lot of fun celebrating. (He might’ve had too much fun last night)!

I always attended remembrance services growing up as a child, a girl guide and a teacher. If you know me well I have a special connection with Remembrance Day, I was born on that day! Recently I was made aware that Grandad fought in the First World War on the back of a motorcycle riding up and down with a pillion passenger who had a machine gun. He never spoke about his experiences to my family. My mother didn’t know (my father died when I had just turned 6 so I never had the chance to have deep conversations with him). Neither did any of my older siblings until now, my brother has been researching the family history.

Celebrating with everything that is going on in the world seems so out of step, 🍉🍉🍉 but we couldn’t let this milestone go unmarked. So this time last week we had a second little celebration to celebrate Mr’s 70th belated birthday! (He is nearly 71 - it has been a busy/ crazy couple of years for so many reasons, earlier in the summer we gathered in a park with a lot of the London family).
It was a momentous occasion! A few much loved people were missing, but not everyone can be there on the same date. It was busy, (I catered everything myself although made the guitars to put on the cake). It was fun, child no 2 sang as did granddaughter no 2: the entertainment was brilliant. Child no3 might have made a speech as did I, it was all very organic. So fabulous, thank you to those that came, I wish we could have had the whole world there!
