That’s the end of another week of trading at Bagenal’s Castle NMD Museums! Our final visitors today came from Bunscoil an Iúir and St Clare’s Abbey PS - thank you for closing out the week so well.
Thank you to all the schools who have visited us this week - Freyja has come away with 4 or 5 thralls; has had many offers of trading for her sword; and has learned all about Erling Haarland…

Today’s enthusiastic schools were Bessbrook Primary School &Nursery Unit and St Colman's Primary School, Saval, who joined Freyja for some raiding and trading. No pillaging though…

Halfway through my week at Bagenal’s Castle NMD Museums, and it was a pleasure to welcome today’s children!

Lots of questions and answers, a lot of laughs, and some fantastic interactive learning.

Even better, the troll rattle kept any nasties away!

A second successful day of trading for Freyja, at Bagenal’s Castle NMD Museums!

Today’s visitors were from Holy Cross PS and Windsor Hill Primary School - the children met with Freyja and learned more about her life and times. They learned the art of a shield wall, how to dress for battle, and handled a weapon or two, before finishing with a story of Odin…

It was a good day for Freyja too! She traded an ear spoon and one calf for not one but two thralls!

We are interested in understanding how teachers use, or could use, local archaeology in their teaching and invite you to complete our survey to share your experiences.

I was delighted to return to Lisnagelvin Primary School today for another day of ‘School Long Ago’ - Miss Anderson has had a busy week!

The three P4 classes spent the day in her 1900 schoolroom, experiencing her rules, lessons, and much more…

It was the first visit of the year to St Bernard's Primary School, Glengormley today, with the P5 classes taking a step back to ‘Ancient Egypt’!

The children met with the ever-modest Tutu, who told them all about her life and times during the reign of King Tutankhamun…
